William was the eldest of Josephs family born at Bremhill 1772. He married Ruth Bridges at Bremhill 1797. Most of the 9 children were born in the Bremhill area but Michael and Mary Matilda were born at Highworth. They farmed at Fresden Farm on site of a medieval village, then moved to West Mill on the River Cole near Watchfield.
