Note the tragic deaths at a young age; only Richard and James lived beyond 40. The 1830s and 40s were a terrible time in England for sickness and hunger.

Jacob took over Vines Farm at Grittenham after his mother Mary moved to Tytherton about 1800. He renewed the leases for another 7 years about 1815 but the farm passed out of the Vines family in the 1820s. His later children were born at Purton.

In 1846 after his father and Benjamin died he migratedto Ontario Canada with the remaining members of the family,James, Charles his mother and his own wife and young children. He took up new land as an original farmer settler.
