St Martins Church at Bremhill

St Martins Church, Bremhill

Looking West

Bremhill was mentioned in the Domesday Book 1086 as a possession of the great
Malmesbury Abbey which was granted by King Athelstan in 938. A grange was established on the site of the present Manor so it is suggested that a church was already here at that date. A board in the church lists the vicars since 1299.
The church is important to the Vines family history, though from the mid 1700s many favoured the Moravian Church at nearby East Tytherton.
