General Notes:
1870 census; they lived in Southbridge, Massachusetts, two doors away from John Reno's family.
Louis Garro or Garno, 58 , works in Wool mill dob est from this info Calista, 55, keeping house Louis 29 farm laborer Eliza, 20, works in wool mill Katie 16 works in wool mill Sophia, Sophiain female 33 no occupation Louis 8 at home Loiza 2 Female at home only household member not born in Canada. She was born in Massachusetts.
One has to wonder if the two youngest children belong to Sophia and not to Louis and Calista, as Calista would have been still bearing children at age 53. Would Sophia be a daughter, or a daughter in law? Only Louis, Eliza and Katie are clearly children of Louis and Calista.
Robert LaRochelle provided St-Jude marriages for a source on his research on the Canadian ancestry of this couple. He lists just one child who wasn't among those above.
The ancestry given here for him may not be correct. I found ancestries for him on Rootsweb Genconnect and on the web. His lineage is completely confused, the root of the line has more than one ancestor, and noone at the Quebec-research list has the correct information.
Louis married Scholastique (Calista) GOUIN, daughter of Emmanuel GOUIN and Genevieve GAUDET, on 28 Jan 1839 in St-Jude, St-Hyacinthe, Quebec. (Scholastique (Calista) GOUIN was born about 1815.)
