bullet  General Notes:

I am attaching him a marriage to the only Joseph so far found in Southbridge the right age to be him. Of course, the entire family group got their age on any census off by as much as 10 years. It is a marraige to an Eliza. It's the first time I've encountered mention of a Baptiste Reno in Southbridge, though it does not specifically say that Baptiste was ever there. They were married by J Le Bretore Catholic priest. The record is 1870 v 228 p 290. My source also says that John could have been Jean Baptiste Renaud; he may have used any combination esp if there was more than one John Reno/ Renaud in the area.

Sue Herbert, who researched this line, confirms that Joseph the father of Peter was the son of John Baptiste and Angeline. According to the 1900 census he was actually born in June of 1847.

Baptism St. -Pierre, Sorel, County of Richelieu, Quebec, Vol. 3 1842-58, Baptemes, Mariages and Sepultures. Societe de Genealogie de Lanaudiere pub no 34.

There was a John and Angeline Reno who appeared to be the founding couple of the entire clan in the area are on the 1870 census. My source sent me a copy in case I didn't know of it, since she thought the Jospeph of this couple must surely be teh one I'm trying to trace. A family who look awfully like the Louie and Corless Garron/ Gannon - in census it is garre or garro - lived nearby, found on the same apge. It included Eliza 20. The only thing is Joseph son of John and angela was reported as born about 1852 - as 18 years old - and Joseph who married Eliza Garron same year was 23. One other thing - in both 1870 and 1880, John and Angelline, in their 50's in 1870 and their 60's in 1880, were too old to have had some of the children presented as being their sons and daughters. In 1870 it does not specifically say that the children are his sons and daughters.

1880 census shows Joseph born about 1846; that is consistent with him being 23 in 1870.

1900 census gives his dob as June 1847.

In the 1920 census Joseph 73 years old is living in the household of his son, John B. Reno, who is 43 and married to Georgiana. (Peter named a daughter Georgiana.)

Sue Herbert says Joseph and Eliza had 10 children that she knows of; I've found either 4 or 5 of them in the 1880 and 1900 census records.

This John worked in Print Works or Paint Works, and so did Joseph his son.

1920 census describes him as a farmer. It says his mother language is French.

The 1880 censussaid he was working in a woolen mill.
