He was killed by the Iroqois, together with his wife.. His occupation was pit sawer. I think that means that he worked with another man sawing long boards and planks. He was "Sieur Longueuil".

According to
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Cabin/1066/16greenfieldpark.html, that title meant seigneur de longueuil; it was a title held by a single family for four generations and became a barony.

According to Doreen on teh quebec-research list, This might be incorrect, but on Les Grand Familles <http://www.grandesfamilles.org/alpha.html> it has the phrase "scieur de long" I think that is a long vertical saw.
LOL! Talk about delusions of grandeur!
