4 Federal Government, 1860 Census, Monongalia CO, VA, (August 1860, Census image, Ancestry.com), image#37. This census appears to have the names and dates of children incorrect. Sylvanus is listed as age 11; he would have been 16, LG is listed as age 9; he would have been 14, Enoch is listed as 7; he would have been 11, Adolphus is listed as 5: he would have been 9, Walter S is listed as age 3; he would have been 7, Mary K is listed as 2; she would have been 2 . Based on the actual ages of the children found in the Family bible and other sources, I believe the list should read as follows: Enoch age 11, Adolphus age 9, Walter S age 7, Alfred Ellsworth age 5, Annie E age 3, Mary K (Kate) age 2, and Maria J (Jane) age 6/12. I can think of no reason for the problems on the census, unless information was not recieved directly from the family.
