Sara Roberta Getty became a columnist for the Frostburg, MD newspaper. Her husband, Charles, was not overly fond of the idea that Sara worked. Despite this, she continued her career. After her husband's death in 19 she moved to Wellersburg, PA where she again became a columnist, this time for the -------------------. Sara continued to work until she was 88 years old. During this time she raised her two children as a single, working mother. She had help from her family, which is why she returned to PA. She also wrote four books of poetry, 15

Sara married Charles Bernard GETTY, son of William Reed GETTY and Margaret CROSS, in 1895 in Frostburg, Allegany Co, MD. (Charles Bernard GETTY was born in 1868, died in 1917 and was buried in 1917 in Grantsville Cemetery, Frostburg, MD.)

• They were employed. Sarah Roberta was a columnist for the Somerset Daily American for many years, regardless of the fact that she was hit by a car in 1965 and broke her hip. She also began to lose her sight in her later years. Sarah was a prolific writer of poetry and had two volumes of poetry published. These volumes can be found at the Library of Congress.
