J.W. HICKS, Pioneer Resident is Dead

CHICO, CA. RECORD- Tuesday Morning Oct. 12, 1909

John Wesley Hicks one of the Pioneer resident of Butte Co. died last evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. John Montgomery of Chapmantown. The deceased who was 89 years, 4 month, and 28 days of age came to Calif. In 1857 from Indiana his Native State. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. He was Fifty-two years a resident of this section a farmer by occupation. The deceased is survived by three son- H.A., C.W., and D.T. and a daughter J.H. Harris, Other relatives are his sisters, Mrs. C. Speegle of Washington, Mrs. A.T. Wright of Berkley, Mrs. John Montgomery of Chico, D.W. Hicks of Santa Ana is a surviving brother.
