He died in February 1863 at Copiah Co., MS, at age 40; Family story: he fought at Vicksburg and caught pneumonia there. His son John took his place so he could come home. He died on the way. No one is sure where he is buried tho older cousins especially Dudley insist he's in unmarked grave on north side of Edwards family cemetery. Some say they buried him "beside the road" where he died.
