PHOTOS FROM MY DAD'S
WORLD WAR II PICTURE ALBUM
Dad was drafted in 1942 and inducted into the Army
at Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, MS. He was then transferred to
Camp Polk, Leesville, LA for basic
training, assigned to the Third Armored Division
then reassigned to the 7th
Armored Division and transferred to
Desert Center, CA for desert training. These pictures are mostly
from that time
period.

picture was on a post card. Notes on the back say "1st Sgt. White

Dad was in the hospital recovering from
surgery when the 7th Armored Division went overseas. He was
reassigned to the 2nd Army Division and the106th
Infantry stationed in Atterbury, IN. He went overseas
with the 106th and fought in the Battle of the
Bulge.

At the
end of the war, Dad was stationed at a town on the Rhine River
and later transferred to Marseilles,
France. The checkmark in the picture identifies "his room” but
his notes don't say where this picture was
taken. Pictured are Bertheume, Dad, Eaton, and Smith.

This picture was taken at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Paris during World War II. The checkmark indicates Dad.
Dad's discharge papers show he was a Tec 4, Co C, 341st Engineer Regiment.
