We have made our best effort in trying to produce accurate information. Additionally, we have used a less busy format trying to concentrate on our main objective, and at the same time, keeping a simple but elegant style in the format, easy reading and fast loading. If you find any mistakes, broken links, or can contribute additional information or have any suggestions with regards to the form or contents of this material, please drop us a message at our e-mail.

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Elvira Perez, Aleyda Vegas y Miriam Bocanegra de Montaña for their help and support during my personal investigations and their contribution with materials and many ideas.

Each state page is organized with the following sections:

General Information

We have heavily relied on the information on states found in "Atlas Práctico de Venezuela" published by the newspaper El Nacional and Cartografía Nacional, which describes the changes in the state frontiers.

Historical and geopolitical aspects are also described that in some form have influenced not only migration patterns, but also the movement of physical state borders.

Associations and Societies

Any association or society that can contribute information of value for the investigation with seat in the state.

Vital Records

Your genealogy investigation greatly depends on the factual data found in what we call Vital Records. These records contain real information regarding the main events which affected the life of your ancestor such as birth, death, marriages and divorces.

The civil records are only as recent as 1873 when the Venezuelan president Guzman Blanco, established by decree the current records system. Before these dates, we must rely on the records kept by the catholic church.

In this section we list a directory of churches, civil registries, government offices where document copies can be requested such as births, marriages and deaths certificates.

  • Church Records
