HACO, LOPEZ, MEDINA, MELGAR, MONTILLA posted by Carolina Montilla on Monday, September 6, 1999

I am searching for the genealogy of Manuel MONTILLA y MELGAR who originated from Spain during the reign of Queen Isabella II. MONTILLA was secretary to the Queen and married Sofia MEDINA LOPEZ DE HACO. He may have siblings in Venezuela and/or Puerto Rico or other Latin American countries colonized by Spain in the 1800s. Isabella and other families in her court went to exile in the 1868 revolution. Was Manuel related to Venezuela's Mariano MONTILLA? Did Manuel have other sons and daughters? One son, Eduardo, was my grandfather. Did Eduardo have siblings? Uncles? Please respond by email to the above address.

ALVAREZ, KERKLINGH, TORRES posted by Elinor Svihla on Tuesday, September 21, 1999

Searching for the birth place of Carlos TORRES and Laura Maria de ALVAREZ. Born in either Colombia or Venezuela around 1883. One child born to this couple - Laura Maria ALVAREZ de TORRES who was born in 1913. Her mother died a few years later. At the age of 6, her father sent her to the Ursaline Boarding School in Barbados. Tuition was paid for a few years until it stopped. The nuns tried to contact the family, but were not successful. The nuns adopted Laura. At the age of 18, Laura moved to Caracas to work as a governess. She married Herbert KERKLINGH in 1934 in Caracas. Laura emigrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1947. She died in Illinois in 1993. School has no early records. They were all eaten by worms. Laura was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease which is heridity. I am trying to find her family because of the disease.

DELGADO, DIAZ, GIL, GONZALEZ, MORANTE, MORANTES, PIO posted by David S Morante on Wednesday, September 22, 1999

I am looking for information on La Familia MORANTE, specifically Melicio MORANTES (where was he born, when was he born, who was his father, etc) As input, Melicio MORANTES (fdf: 5/1898) was married to Basilia (DELGADO) de MORANTE (fdf: 20/5/11 in Los Teques, Miranda). Prior research has led me to believe that Melicio MORANTES was related to (tio de?) Pedro Maria MORANTES, better known as PIO GIL (the poet from Tachira who wrote El Cabito; PIO GIL was the son of Miguel MORANTES). One of Melicio and Basilia sons was Gabriel MORANTE (fdn: 1846 in Sabaneta, fdf: 5/9/26 in El Castillo de Valencia). Papa Gabriel and Froilana (GONZALEZ) de MORANTE (first of three wives) had Nicolas MORANTE (fdn: 13/6/1881 in Los Teques, Miranda, fdf: 7/10/38). Nicolas Morante and Ruperta (DIAZ) de MORANTE's (fdn: 1889, fdf: 7/2/49 in Los Teques) only son was my abuelo, Nicolas Ramon MORANTE (fdn: 3/11/15 in Los Teques, Miranda, fd: 3/10/97 in Los Teques, Miranda). Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated.
