Onondaga County ---- I David D. Hillis Surrogate of the County aforesaid do
hereby certify that Isaac Van Tassel of the town of Manlius County of Onondaga
and State of New York has been duly appointed administrator of the Estate of
Alsey Van Tassel widow of Cornelius Van Tassel both late of the town of Manlius
aforesaid ?deceased? - In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed the official seal of said Court of Syracuse in said County this 24 day
of July 1844.

Onondaga County on this 24th day of July 1844 personally appeared before the
undersigned Surrogate of the County of Onondaga in the State of New York Isaac
Van Tassel of the town of Manlius in the County and State aforesaid administrator
of the estate of Alsey Van Tassel late of said town of Manlius, deceased, who
having first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following
declaration in order to obtain the benefits of the section of the act of July
4, 1836. That he is one of the Children of Cornelius Van Tassel & Alsey
Van Tassel and has been duly appointed administrator of the estate of the said
Alsey; that his father, the said Cornelius Van Tassel was a private in the war
of the Revolution and served under Captain Adiel Sherwood and that he was taken
prisoner while in the service as aforesaid at Fort Ann in the State of New York,
was carried a prisoner to Canada and kept by the British a prisoner upwards
of two years.
He also declares that his father the aforesaid Cornelius Van Tassel was married to his mother Alsey Brower on the thirteenth day of January one thousand seven hundred and seventy six, and that his father died on the twenty eighth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty leaving the said Alsey his widow and several children.
He also further declares that his mother, the aforesaid Alsey did not marry
after the death of his father but continued his widow and that she died in the
town of Manlius aforesaid on the thirteenth day of July in the year one thousand
eight hundred and thirty nine and that at her death she left surviving her the
following named children viz: Cornelius Van Tassel now a resident of the State
of Indiana, Rachel Van Tassel a resident of the state of Michigan, Leah Rose
wife of Jacob Rose, Abraham Van Tassel, Stephen Van Tassel and Isaac Van Tassel
who resides in the county of Onondaga, State of New York and that the said children
are of lawful age. He further declares that his parents aforesaid were married
by the Rev. Mr. ?Boneschanter? in the town of Schaghticoke in the County of
Rensselaer, in the State of New York: that he knows of no record but a family
record kept by his father the said Cornelius in his own handwriting in an ancient
Low Dutch Bible which this declarant has detached therefrom and attached to
the declaration as proof of said marriage in connection with the affidavit of
Catherine ?Karr? an eyewitness whose affidavit is hereto attached. This declarant
claims the amt of pension due his mother at the time of her death under the
law of 1836 is being from 4 March 1831 to the 13th day of July 1839 that being
the day of her decease.

certify that I am well acquainted with Isaac Van Tassel who has this day made
the foregoing declaration before me and that he is a man of good character,
whose word is to be relied upon. In testimony whereof and of the foregoing proceedings

Surrogate Court I David D. Hillis, Surrogate of said County do hereby certify
that on this twenty fifth day of March 1844 before said Court at Syracuse in
said County it was proved by the addition of testimony satisfactory to said
court that Cornelius Van Tassel late Manlius in the County Onondaga of the State
aforesaid died on the twenty eighth day of April in the year one thousand eight
hundred and thirty and that Alsey Van Tassel his widow died on the thirteenth
day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine-that at the
time of the death of the said Alsey she left surviving the following children
viz. Cornelius Van Tassel who now resided in the State of Indiana, Rachel Van
Tassel who now resides in the State of Michigan, Leah Rose wife of Jacob Rose,
Abraham Van Tassel, Stephen Van Tassel and Isaac Van Tassel who now reside in
the County of Onondaga and State of New York and that each of them are over
twenty one years of Age ------ In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and affixed the official seal of said court the day and year first written.
