Welcome to The Vaden Family Research Center.

My name is Charlie Vines and I am the administrator of this website. I live in Garland, Dallas County, Texas, USA with my wife, Theresa Diane (Vaden) Vines. I have lived in Dallas County for the past twenty-eight years. I was born in Russell County, Virginia and have lived in Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas

I began researching our family history in 1998. Our primary lines are:
Theresa - Barnes, Clark, Hayes, Lloyd (mother), Rogers, Stephens, Williams, Vaden (maiden name)
Charlie - Ellis, Moxley, Nash, Porter, Shoemaker (mother), Vines

Feel free to explore as much and as long as you like.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS SITE
The purpose of the Vaden Family Genealogical Research Center is to provide a centralized location for storing or linking information that is related to the Vaden family.

Why such a focus? Good question. I have found in my research that there are Vaden`s in multiple states and in multiple counties within each state. Then there are wills, obituaries, cemeteries, pictures, biographies, census, etc all over the web. My goal in developing the Vaden Family Research Center is to provide a place where data from all over the internet (and other sources) can be linked, thus saving the researcher time in his/her research. Also, if the reader desires, he/she can contribute information to this site. All contributions will be properly credited.

For the record, my wife is a Vaden. Her line runs Theresa Diane Vaden -> Tom Vaden -> Lester (Leck) Vaden -> Claude Hartwell Vaden -> Robert Wylie Vaden -> Delaney Dodson (D D) Vaden. I have not been able to get beyond D D, yet.

Please understand that I have not been able to confirm all of the information that is found on this website. Information has been provided from individuals whom I must trust until information can been proven incorrect. ---PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, VERIFY. ---

The reader is welcome to challenge any information found on this website. However, to do so, the reader MUST provide sources to support his/her claims. The webmaster has the final decision on whether data is modified.

HOW TO USE THIS SITE

For the time being, my data is stored in a database in the Worldconnect project section in www.rootsweb.com (see above). This is my data as of November 28, 2007. I will not be updating that site again. All new data will be stored here. On the home page, I will link to comprehensive source listings for each category listed above. On the individual family group pages, I will list or link to sources that are related to that sheet.

QUERIES

I considered starting my own query board here, but decided not to. There are several places online where queries can be entered. The three I am most familiar with are The Vaden Family Genforum Board, The Vaden Family Message Board at Rootsweb, and The Vaden Family Mailing List at Rootweb. For the purpose of this Research Center I have chosen to use The Vaden Family Mailing List. With this list, every time an entry is posted to the list, everyone who is subscribed to the list will receive an e-mail that will either contain the posting or a link to the mailing list to view the posting. With the other two, e-mails are received when a reply is posted to your query. The researcher would have to visit the other websites to see is any new postings are isted. In order to receive e-mails of posting from the list, one must subscribe to the list. The Vaden-L list will only list the new posting. The Vaden-D list (digest) will list all postings for a specific time period. Click on the link above to subscribe. To post a new entry, send an e-mail to VADEN-L-request@rootsweb.com or VADEN-D-request@rootsweb.com, depending on whether you subscribe to Vaden-L or Vaden-D. I may in the further create our own query board.

Please let me know if the reader is aware of another source of posting queries that you think is worth considering.

PARTICIPATION

Participation can occur in four ways:
1. To inform me of errors in the data posted
2. To provide additional information on a person or family.
3. To contribute your family`s information to this project.
4. Provide sources that provide additional support for information. For example, if a person tells me that he/she saw some information in an obituary, I would state that the source is that person. If a person sends me a copy of the obituary, I would list the obituary as the source and state that the obituary was provided by that person.

Please include your sources with you information. I give due credit for all information provided.

Enjoy your visit and 'ya'll come back now, ya hear'
