My name is Jack Usher. I live in Birmingham, Al. I am 64 years old and was
born in St. Louis, MO. I don't know much about my great grandfather other than
his being referred to as a little black-eyed Irishman. My grandfather, Lorenzo
D. Usher was born close to Cook Station, MO., October 5, 1867. He was one of
three boys, he the oldest, middle brother, Grant, youngest named John. Lorenzo
and Grant married and eventually moved to central Illinois-Springfield. John was
the most colorful running moonshine so the story goes. He lived on an Indian
reservation for awhile in Oklahoma drifted some. Married a girl 50 years his
junior.
