Obituary: PEKIN -- Marion W. DeSollar, 87, of 190 E. Queenwood Road, Morton, formerly of East Peoria and Escondido, Calif., died at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 1994, at Morton Health Care Center in Morton.
Born May 16, 1907, in Beardstown to Elza W. and Anna Bell Lamb DeSollar, he married Araminta Wyatt in 1931 in Jacksonville. He later married Selma Usher on Oct. 28, 1950, in Seattle, Wash. She died June 9, 1984, in Escondido. He also was preceded in death by one brother and one infant son.
Surviving are two sons, Armand B. of Collierville, Tenn., and Brian R. of Pekin; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John of Galesburg and Kenneth of Beardstown.
He retired Feb. 1, 1963, after more than 32 years of government service, with more than 16 years for the Army Corps of Engineers Ballistic Missile Construction Office.
He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1622 in Escondido.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. James M. Sandy will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation will follow the services and burial of ashes will be in War Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Pekin.
