bullet  General Notes:

From Andrew Usher's narrative:

He married one of the Miss Potts of Penchrist, a lady of like disposition with himself; and I never knew a pair so generally respected and esteemed by all classes in the country. The late Dr Chalmers, when Minister of Cavers, was a frequent visitor at Courthill and was a great favourite there and in his life and posthumous works published by Dr Hanna, he speaks of the dear Ushers of Courthill where he had received such kindness and where he had spent some of his happiest days.
