In the letters books of Thomas Usher, his letters Vol1-245 & Vol1-248 to his son William mention a Mr May in regard as a family member, or at least a close friend. These are addressed to 252 Cornwall Road, Notting Hill, London. A third letter Vol1-258 to William is addressed to him at Mr or Wm B Henderson, ?? St Lukes Road, West ?? Park, Bayswater. In the 1881 Census there is a widowed Mrs P May living at 21 Saint Lukes Road. Conincidence or connection ?

Thomas died at 10:20pm. His son Andew was the informant.
• He appeared on the census in 1841 in West Nicholson Street, Edinburgh. 13 • Firm: Edinburgh, Scotland. 14 15 Thomas and his elder brother James went into the brewing business and were the originators of the Park Brewery, St. Leonard's, Edinburgh. • In 1867 he resided at 22 Minto Street, Edinburgh. 16 17 No. 22 was rented from Dr Taylor of Penrith. In 1868 the rent was £52-10-0, and the property was becoming too small for Thomas' ever growing family. • He worked as a brewer in 1874. 6 • He worked as a brewer in 1883. 7 Thomas married Eliza Caroline HENDERSON, daughter of Lt. Col. William HENDERSON H.E.I.C.S. and Eliza MILLARD, on 27 Aug 1851 at Kensington Church, London.1 18 (Eliza Caroline HENDERSON was born on 13 May 1830 in , Bombay, , India 11 19, christened on 9 Nov 1830 in , Bombay, , India,19 died on 5 Nov 1880 at 18 Lauder Road, Edinburgh 11 20 21 and was buried at Grange Cemetery, Edinburgh 11.) The cause of her death was Cancer of Breast - 1 year.
Some of his younger children have the date of marriage as the 26th Aug 1851. |
