United States Colored Troops in Ohio

My interest in the United States Colored Troops began during my years of coursework for my Ph.D. in Nineteenth Century United States history at Kent State University. I am currently finishing my dissertation, Ohio’s Soldiers and Veterans:The 27th United States Colored Troops under the direction of Dr. Leonne Hudson. So far I have collected genealogical information on over 600 of the estimated 1400 free black Ohioans who served in the regiment.
