Levi Green Blackmon

Levi Green was in Newton County, MS from 1861 to 1878, then Raymond,  Leon County, TX from 1878 to 1932, where he died 8/8/1932.  He ran a general store in Raymond, TX.  He was Baptist and served in the Civil War, 37 MS Inf CSA.  He is buried, along with his wife, Cornelia Ellen Sinclair Blackmon (8/26/1844 to 8/11/1920), in Tubb Cemetery, 17 miles S of Oakwood on Farm Rd 542 on the left in East Texas.  They had 6 children:

Ida Margaret Blackmon 8/10/1878 to 5/23/1954
    married Jno. G. Leutwyler
Willie Lee Blackmon 3/14/1880 to 9/14/18888 (only 8 yrs old) also buried  in Tubb Cemetery
Etta Blackmon 3/1/1884 to 11/18/1954
   married Willie.R. Cash (Johnny Cash may have been a distant cousin)

 


This letter from Levi Blackmon to his daughter 
Ida Margaret Leutwyler, says Levi's father was 
named John and John had 2 brothers: 
Peter & Solomon and came from South Carolina
