Onesiphorus Page, named after his mother's brother, was a weaver by
trade and a sergeant in the local militia.
Onesiphorus and his wife Sarah Morrill Page were signers of the
"Bradbury Petition" of 22 July 1692, as well as relatives John Clough
and wife Mercy Page Clough, and Thomas Clough and his wife. It was
presented to the court during the deposition of Mary Perkins
Bradbury, in the hopes that its testimony of her good character would
influence the outcome of her trial for witchcraft. Although convicted
on 9 Sep 1692 and sentenced to hang, Mary Bradbury avoided execution.
Her husband and friends arranged a successful jail escape, after
which she fled to Amesbury, where she died around 1694.
