First found in in Oxfordshire in midland England where they had been seated from very ancient times

about the year 1066. Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: William Turner

who settled in Maine in 1607 thirteen years before the "Mayflower"; Abraham Turner arrived in 1620 in

Plymouth, Mass.; Christopher and Edward Turne and others.
