1874 Donemana Directory
Information transcribed by Faye Logue
| This is a thriving and healthy village, situated on the River Dennet,
about nine miles from Londonderry, and eight from Strabane. Fairs are
held on the 27th of each month throughout the year, except when the 27th
happens on a Sunday. There are the remains of an old castle in the town, from the summit of which you can survey a great portion of the County Donegal. Mr Ogilby's splendid castle, a short distance from the village, adds greatly to the interest of this locality. |
