The Cookstown 100 started in 1922, and the course is on the local roads around Cookstown. In the first race there were only 6 riders and these were predominately from Cookstown: Thomas McGucken, Thomas Hamilton, Harry McIver, Glenny Weir, and James Fearon, and Thomas Mallon from Belfast. Thomas Mallon was the winner. Mervyn Greer as a young lad was the lap counter for a local competitor. Link to the Official Cookstown 100 site with some history |
