MANUFACTURES IN THE NORTH-WEST. Journal states that 280 looms are at constant work upon Doctor Rogan's estate at Castlefin [Co Donegal], 90 are employed on the property of Sir R. Ferguson at Castlederg [Co Tyrone], and several at Ramelton [Co Donegal] under Mr. Brigham. The Messrs. Wilson, and Samuel Kerr, of Raphoe [Co Donegal], are prosecuting the same business in that town; and in this city, so many as 250 weavers and 500 shirtmakers, are employed by Messrs. Wm. Scott & Co., upon commission, from English and Scotch houses. These are sure indications of the increasing prosperity of this district. |
