With the help of my family and many new found cousins, we currently have our REID line back to 1574 in Scotland. Although the entire line has yet to be proven (with birth, marriage, & death certificates, etc); the information contained within these webpages is true and accurate to the best of our knowledge. We realize there are most likely errors in some of the information, and we will do our best to correct these errors as we discover them in our continued research. From Scotland to Ireland...
In the 1600's Major John REID of Scotland was induced by King James I of England to colonize North Ireland. Lands there had been forteited to the British Crown on the failure of the Irish Rebellion, instigated by Phillip II, King of Spain. Thus the REID's left their Scottish homeland, and ventured out into Ireland.
