"My" cemetery is one that I found several years ago and started work on. I was unable to continue for awhile and when I could get back to it, it had disappeared. I have since tried to determine what, and who, happened to it, but no luck. I don't even have a name for it. |

I am trying to get into Winfree #1 cemetery here in Orange, TX. The owner refuses to allow anyone to enter.
It has a historical marker and is over grown with brush. From a very good source the owner has knocked down the markers and buried them. |

Sept. 29, 2000 This morning I located one cemetery (Smith) and one single grave. The Smith Cemetery only had three headstones and 6 or 7 fieldstones. All of these are on the LBJ National Grasslands in Wise County. At one time there was a hog wire fence around the Smith graves but parts are down now. These sites both have to be walked to. All the headstones were still standing and in good shape, considering there have been cows running loose in the area. I will say that I could not have found these graves if it weren't for David Weldon and John Beck who work for the grasslands and gave me exact directions to the site. I thank them very much. |

I am transcribing the Peoples Burial and New Trinity Cemetery in Haltom City; corner of Beach and 28th Street. Fretwell Cemetery has been completed. It is located at the same property as the two mentioned above.

I think this may be a dumb question....If the land the cemetery is on is where a building that is historic is the cemetery considered historic also? The Socorro Mission was built in 1680's with the cemetery on the same property. It would seem so but I would like some comment on this. The office has a cemetery book for the 1800's. I have asked to transcribe it but with no success. Next month I will walk the cemetery as that seems all I can accomplish. Dorris
