A New Vessel
Watertown Daily Times, July 15, 1872
A New Vessel - is being built by B. Eveleigh of Sackets Harbor. The length of the keel is 136 feet and breadth of beam over 26 feet, or equal to the utmost capacity of the Welland canal. This will be a first class vessel with a capacity sufficient to carry 20,000 bushels of grain, and will cost $30,000. It will not be completed until next season. This will give time for the timbers to season and enable the workmen to turn out a much more substantial craft than could be done where the time of building is shortened to a few months.
