Sixtieth Anniversary
LINGENFELTER-PUTNAM
(July 29, 1913)
On the Fourth of July sixty years ago Miss Susan Lingenfelter and Albert H. Putnam were united in the bonds of holy matrimony.
Monday a postal shower of about a hundred handsome cards surprised them, and their relatives surprised them with good things to eat and a beautiful clock to mark the passing time. This event was arranged by their daughter, Mrs. A. Schnauber, and their granddaughter, Mrs. Edward Sheldon, who prepared the bride's cake, beautifully decorated with American flags.
Mrs. Sophronia Sheldon, sister of the groom, and Charles Lingenfelter, brother of the bride, being the only other surviving members of the original families.
This union has been blessed with a son, Gilbert Putnam, and two daughters, Almeda (Mrs. Ernest Diefendorf) and Margaretta (Mrs. Augustus Schnauber.)
At one o'clock all were served with an elaborate dinner. With an ideal day, the house tastefully decorated with flowers, flags and bunting made a good setting for the two group pictures taken by Mrs. E. Sheldon. Before parting the company sang, "Nearer, My God, to Thee" and "God be With You Till we (sic) Meet Again."
Those present were Mrs. S. R. Sheldon, Mrs. Amon T. Putnam, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lingenfelter, Wendell Heyl, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert J. Putnam, Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Schnauber, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Sheldon, Mrs. Elizabeth Swartout, Elmer Hyle, Mr. and Mrs. Burton C. Whitney, Mrs. Emma Whitney, of Cold Brook, N. Y., and Mrs. K. L. Whitney, of Passaic, N. J. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Diefendorf and family were invited, but were not able to attend.
