Henry Paul McKain Jr., 75, of Victory Heights, Franklin RD 2, died at 10:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, in the West Unit of Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born June 8, 1924, in Warren, Pa., he was a son of Henry Paul '' Buck'' and Mildred McKEAN McKain. Mr. McKain was a 1942 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. McKain retired in 1980 as a core maker for Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of the CPT. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and was a charter member of the Rainbow Beagle Club. Mr. McKain enjoyed gardening, hunting and woodworking. He was married in Greenville May 10, 1947, to Roberta J. PERRINE, who survives. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son and his wife, Michael and Wendy McKain of Kennerdell; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Paula) PALMER of Franklin; and six grandchildren, Jason Palmer, Josh Palmer, Julie Palmer and Jeremy Palmer, all of Franklin, and Jacquelyn HRICSINA and Melanie McKain, both of Kennerdell. Also surviving are two brothers, Clifford Wayne McKain of Polk RD 1 and Lyle Richard McKain of Franklin. In addition to his parents, Mr. McKain was preceded in death by one sister, Vera McKain; and three brothers, Charles William McKain, missing in action in World War II with the Army Air Force, Larry Lee McKain and Russell Lewis McKain. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Harper, pastor of the Seneca United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Franklin Public Library, Seneca United Methodist Church or to Christ United Methodist Church of Franklin.

Nellie Blanche Harvey, 96, of Robinwood Drive, Clarion, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, in Beverly Healthcare-Clarion. Born Nov. 22, 1903, in New Bethlehem, she was a daughter of Edward and Lottie FOX MANLEY. Mrs. Harvey was a former teacher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarion, the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine of New Bethlehem and Rebekah Lodge of Clarion. Mrs. Harvey was a homemaker. She was married in 1927 to Alfred J. Harvey, who died March 15, 1988. Surviving are a son-in-law, Ray L. KARNS Sr. of Clarion; seven grandchildren, Deborah Rae Karns and Alfred J. Karns, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Kathryn Ann PUSKAR of Kittanning, Ray L. Karns Jr. of Montclair, N.J., Beth Anne MOORE of New Concorde, Ohio, James H. Karns of Bridgeville and David R. Karns of Fayetteville, Ark.; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by one daughter, Louise Harvey Karns, in 1999; one brother; and one sister. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Goble Funeral Home of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Madden officiating. Interment will follow in Clarion Cemetery.

Mildred Mae Hutchins, 87, of Center Point, Ind., formerly of Marienville, died at 9:13 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Ind. Born Nov. 20, 1912, in Kane, she was a daughter of Jacob H. and Elsie May DAVIS IRWIN. Mrs. Hutchins was a 1930 graduate of Kane High School. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Hutchins was married in Jamestown, N.Y., Nov. 9, 1930, to Joseph C. Hutchins, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, James W. Hutchins, U.S. Navy retired, of Center Point, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Joanne Virginia) COLLINS of Center Point, Ind.; five grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Clair C. Irwin of Erie and Max V. Irwin of Everett, Wash.; a sister, Joyce MEANS of Marienville; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. At the request of Mrs. Hutchins, there was direct cremation. Her ashes will be interred in Greenwood Cemetery, Marienville, at a later date. The Lawson-Slack Funeral Home in Brazil, Ind., is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy P. Tisdale, 91, of Clarion RD 2, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, in Beverly Healthcare Shippenville. Born Dec. 26, 1907, in Coldwater, Mich., she was a daughter of Frank and Lura POST. Mrs. Tisdale worked as a secretary most of her life, retiring in 1970 from the Michigan State Board of Mortuary Science. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was a past officer of Chapter No. 1 of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Tisdale was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge and golfing. She first was married to the late Milton KNAPP. In 1958, she was married to Cecil G. Tisdale, who died Nov. 17, 1979. Surviving are four stepchildren, Mary Jane JAKOVAC and Terry Tisdale, both of Lansing, Mich., Barbara PUCKETT of Clarion and Sally ROBINSON of Atlanta, Ga.; 11 stepgrandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two nieces, Mary Lou ARCHER and Dorothy WOODHAM of Michigan; and one nephew, Richard BIDWELL of Michigan. The Goble Funeral Home of Clarion is in charge of arrangements. There will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Coldwater, Mich. Memorials may be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice, P.O. Box 668, Knox, Pa. 16232, or to the Clarion County Humane Society, Route 322, Shippenville, Pa. 16254.

Leah K. Sawyer, 83, of 918 Liberty St., died at 9:03 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born Jan. 1, 1916, in Liberty, she was a daughter of Amos and Emma RAKER Sawyer. Miss Sawyer was a graduate of Liberty High School. She received a degree from Mansfield State Teachers College, now Mansfield University, and attended Dickinson Seminary, now Lycoming College. She received her master's degree in 1946 from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Prior to attending the University of Michigan, she taught music for three years in Smethport. Miss Sawyer retired in 1979 from Franklin Area School District where she had taught music since 1946. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Liberty. Surviving are a longtime friend, Mrs. Kathryn Mitchell of Franklin; a brother-in-law, Guy SHAFFER of Williamsport; and four cousins, Winifred Raker and Robert K. Raker, both of Liberty, Charles Sawyer of Trout Run and Mary E. TIETBOHL of Montoursville. In addition to her parents, Miss Sawyer was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Shaffer; and two brothers, Frank Sawyer and Walter Sawyer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Huff Chapel with the Rev. Peter Foreman officiating. Another service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the United Methodist Church, Water Street, Liberty, with the Rev. Joy Hulslander, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Friedens Cemetery, Liberty. Memorials may be made to the music department of Mansfield University, the Liberty United Methodist Church or to a charity of one's choice.
