M. Thoburn '' Tobe'' Banks, 89, of Parker Avenue, Scottdale, formerly of Oil City, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 9, 1999, at his residence. Born Nov. 1, 1910, in Lewistown, he was a son of George Warren and Blanche Rebecca WRIGHT Banks. Mr. Banks was a 1928 graduate of Oil City High School and at tended Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, from 1928 to 1930. He was a retired electrical designer for R.E. Uptegraff Manufacturing Co. of Scottdale, where he worked from 1937 to 1975. While employed by Uptegraff, he also worked at the original Pittsburgh plant and served as manager of its plant in Terra Alta, W.Va. Mr. Banks was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Scottdale, the Wesley Brotherhood Class and the Retired United Methodist Men. He also was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, held membership in the Marion Masonic Lodge No. 562 of Scottdale, the Terra Alta, W.Va., Masonic Lodge No. 106 and the Westmoreland Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Mr. Banks was married to Lydia LACKMAN, who died Jan. 18, 1966. Surviving are three sons, James W. Banks and his wife, Linda Beal Banks, and George R. Banks and his wife, Martha Rolla Banks, all of Scottdale, and John D. Banks of Ravenna, Ohio; three daughters, Barbara Lois Banks and her husband, Paul Michael MORAN, of Union, Ky., Carole ROBBINS and her husband, Michael, of Pittsburgh, and Patricia A. FRANKS of Scottdale; eight grandchildren, Barbara and Paula Moran, Chris Banks, Julie CARSON, Doug Banks, Jooke and Ben Robbins and Steve Banks; and a great-grandson, Riley J. Banks. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Janet Porter Banks of Union town; and two nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Banks was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Ethan Raymond Carson; and two brothers, Seyford W. Banks and Duane G. Banks. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St., Scottdale. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Paul B. Morris officiating. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township, next to his late wife. Vincent A. '' Deke'' Frampton, 42, of Harrisville RD 1, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at his residence. Born Jan. 31, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas, he was a son of John E. Frampton and Jaunita R. THOMPSON Frampton SURRENA. Mr. Frampton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. For the past three years, Mr. Frampton was employed as a fabricator welder at Interstate Ma chine & Fabrication of Springfield Township, Mercer County. Mr. Frampton was married to the former Yvette D. COZAD, who survives at Harrisville RD 1. Also surviving are four daughters, Lorrie Frampton and Amanda Frampton, both of Texas, and Jessica L. Frampton and Ashley A. Frampton, both at home; one son, Vincent A. Frampton Jr. of Texas; and four grandchildren. He also is survived by his mother, Jaunita R. Surrena of Fort Worth, Texas; and a brother, John L. Frampton of Texas. He was preceded in death by his father. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, branch of Huff Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Leonard D. King, 50, of Route 965, Polk, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Georgetown Road. Born Nov. 20, 1948, in Franklin, he was a son of Cecil B. and Etta MILLER King. He was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School. Mr. King was a truck driver for Strimbu Trucking Inc., and re tired from Franklin Steel. He was a member of the Triumphant Church in Franklin. Mr. King enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding and horses. He was married Nov. 14, 1970, to Debra Sustak, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, David Joseph and Jody King of Cooperstown and Chad Alan and Veronica King of Polk; and one granddaughter, Angeline King of Cooperstown. He also is survived by five brothers, Alan King and his wife, Darlene, of Polk, Roger King and his fiancee, Deb Snyder, and Scott King, all of Utica, Jeffrey King and his wife, Sue, of Stoneboro and William King and his wife, Martha, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Rebecca) MORROW of Winter Park, Fla., and Mrs. Charles (Shirley) REAGLE of Sandy Lake. Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joseph King. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Mike McAvoy officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. John R. Marterella, 56, of Emlenton, a lifelong resident of the area, died of a sudden illness Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at his residence. Born Dec. 25, 1942, in Boyers, he was a son of Donald P. and Josephine PRATT Marterella. He was a graduate of Moniteau School District. Mr. Marterella was a mechanic with Campbell's Bus Lines in Slippery Rock. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. Mr. Marterella was a member of Allegheny Valley Lodge No. 552, F. & A.M. He was married Jan. 18, 1964, in Boyers to Mildred CAMPBELL, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Anthony P. Marterella of Gaithers burg, Md., James R. Marterella of Emlenton, Mark C. Marterella of Seneca and John R. Marterella of Frankfort, Ky.; and one grandson, Nathan J. Marterella of Seneca. He also is survived by two brothers, Carmen Marterella of Boyers and Donald Marterella of Grove City. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, Clintonville. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Rusnak, pastor of St. Michael Church, Emlenton, officiating. Interment will be in the Epiphany Cemetery in Boyers.
Michelle Delite Shreffler, 22, of Coachlite Drive, Gerry, N.Y., formerly of Vestal, N.Y., Youngstown, Ohio, and Mechanicsburg, grand daughter of a Franklin resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital, Witchita, Kan., as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident. Born Oct. 5, 1977, in Johnson City, N.Y., she was a daughter of Samuel F. and Darlene R. CLARK Shreffler of Gerry, N.Y. Her family moved to Gerry earlier this year. Miss Shreffler was a 1995 graduate of Cumberland High School in Mechanicsburg and also attended school in Vestal, N.Y., and Youngstown, Ohio. She had been a student of aviation and ministry at Central Christian College of Kansas in McPhearson, Kan., since January 1998. She had her pilot's license and also had received her instrument rating. She was a member of the Flying Tigers Aviators Club. Miss Shreffler also was serving as student prayer coordinator for Student Activities Council, was a study cluster leader, resident assistant in the woman's dorm and was co-director at the '' Mud Hole'' Christian coffee room on campus at Central Christian College. She had been very active in the Free Methodist Church wherever she had lived and was very active in various ministries at both college and church. Miss Shreffler was highly interested in wildlife and enjoyed wildlife preserves. Surviving, in addition to her paents, are a sister, Lisa McCONNELL of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Wayne Shreffler of The Bronx, N.Y.; her paternal grandmother, Bobbie Shreffler of Franklin; and two nieces. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Jordan Funeral Home, 6 Parkway Drive, Sinclairville, N.Y. Visitation also will be held one hours prior to services at 2 p.m. Saturday in Seeley Chapel of Schwab Manor at Heritage Village, Gerry, N.Y. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery.
