Ruth Joan White Harkless, 69, of Sligo RD 2, died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Clarion Hospital. Born March 3, 1930, in Foxburg, she was a daughter of William H. and Eva Marie FILLMAN White. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Harkless was employed as a cook for 17 1/2 years at Gallagher's Plaza prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Callensburg United Methodist Church and was a member and treasurer of the Callensburg-Licking Township Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. For several years, Mrs. Harkless was judge of elections for Licking Township. She enjoyed needlepoint, plastic canvass, embroidery and walking. Mrs. Harkless was married July 29, 1978, to Clair B. Harkless, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Linda) DOUGHTY of Altoona, Mrs. Ricki (Linda) KRIEBEL of New Castle, Mrs. Frank (Brenda) MILLER of Parker and Mrs. Larry (Regina) BOWSER of Callensburg; a son and his wife, James and Mary Harkless of Corsica; and nine grandchildren, Paula Kritz, Kimberly Doughty, Terri Williams, Nancy Miller, Chloe Bowser, Randy Doughty, Brian Harkless, John Harkless and Charlie Miller; and two greatgranddaughters. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harkless was preceded in death by four sisters, Ella Jane White, Catherine Lucille White BONE, Sarah Virginia White and Mary Louise White PATTERSON; and three brothers, Richard A. White, Charles L. White and Robert White. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the David C. McEntire Funeral Home, Knox. Funeral services will be held at1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Don Kephart, pastor of the Callensburg United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Callensburg Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Callensburg United Methodist Church, Callensburg, Pa. 16213.

George R. Johnson, 61, of 135 Parkwood Drive, Cranberry Township, Butler County, formerly of Albion, Frederick, Md., and Franklin, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness. Born March 9, 1938, in Marietta, Ohio, he was a son of Warren Vern and Ruby M. THOMAS Johnson. Mr. Johnson earned a Ph.D. in business administration in 1982 from Pacific Western University. For the past 10 years, he was employed as vice president and general manager of Classic Spas & Hot Tubs in Monroeville. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Indian Orchard Lodge, F. & A.M., of Indian Orchard, Mass., and the Shriners in Indian Orchard. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with his family. Mr. Johnson was married May 30, 1993, to the former Donna CHELTON, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Ray Johnson of Cranberry Township; a daughter, Vicki Johnson of Finksburg, Md.; a stepgranddaughter; two stepdaughters; and a stepson-in-law. He also is survived by two brothers and their wives, Harold and Dottie Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Carl and Hope Johnson of Dallas, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale Johnson and Richard Johnson. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Samuel J. Steff Funeral Home, 188 E. State St., Albion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Dr. Jay Cook, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Albion Cemetery. Lillian D. Loveless, 97, of 9 Wabash Ave., formerly of Bradford, died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Oil City. Born Sept. 10, 1902, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Cornelius J. and Eleanor De GOLIER DAVIS. Her grandfather, Albert De Golier, was one of the first settlers of the Bradford area. Mrs. Loveless graduated in June 1922 from Bradford High School. She was a 50-year member of both the Sally Wister Chapter of the DAR and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 61. Mrs. Loveless was a homemaker. She was married June 19, 1929, to William Max Loveless, who died June 27, 1968. Surviving are one son, James D. Loveless of Rye, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Bryan (Eleanor L.) ENOS of Pleasantville RD 2; five grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. The Hutchinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery near Bradford. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. GARY L. ROSS Gary L. Ross, 60, of Cranberry RD 1, died at 6:17 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born Dec. 24, 1938, in Franklin, he was a son of Harry and Luella BEIGHTOL Ross. Mr. Ross was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ross was employed at Franklin Steel, Channel Lock in Meadville and Joy Mining Machinery where he retired in 1989. He attended the World Wide Church of God in Franklin. Mr. Ross enjoyed bowling on the Joy League and hunting and camping with his family. He was married July 3, 1964, to the former Shirley SHORTS, who survives. Also surviving are one son and his wife, Gary E. and Dorothy Ross of Oil City; three daughters, Mrs. Steve P. (Laura L.) TOSCANO of Franklin, Mrs. Ron A. (Terresa L.) CRAWFORD of Clearfield and Mrs. Lew G. (Sherri G.) ROGERS Jr. of Rocky Grove; 11 grandchildren, James, Jeffrey and Trisha Ross, all of Oil City, Alicia, Matthew and Alexander Toscano, all of Franklin, Dana, Christopher and Manda Crawford, all of Clearfield, and Kaylynn and Michael Rodgers, both of Rocky Grove. He also is survived by three brothers, Edgar '' Bud'' Ross and H. Richard '' Dick'' Ross, both of Franklin, and Robert '' Red'' Ross and his wife, Delores, of Rocky Grove; three sisters, Bonnie SAKALOUSKY, Patricia TARR and Mrs. Thurman (Karen) JEFFRIES, all of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his parents. The Huff Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. William Deets, pastor of the World Wide Church of God, officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County, 308 Seneca St., Oil City, Pa. 16301.
