Gerald Bosley, 56, of 1336 Eagle St., Franklin, employed by PennDOT as a laborer on roads, died at 5:55 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at his residence.
Dorothy V. Ziegler Moon, 70, of 818 Elk St., Franklin, a native of Venus and graduate of Shippenville High School, died at 8:52 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, in Northwest MedicalCenter at Franklin.
Lillie Elizabeth Sterner, 86, of Oil City RD 1, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Born March 15, 1913, in Princedale, Westmoreland County, she was a daughter of Walter and Martha STRAUSER LEASURE. Mrs. Sterner had worked part-time at the Arlington Hotel and also worked as a domestic in private homes. She was a member of the Cherrytree Bible Church. Mrs. Sterner enjoyed church music and crocheted afghans and kitchen towels. She was married in Cumberland, Md., April 25, 1935, ot Philbert Sterner, who died Jan. 23, 1978. Surviving are three sons, Philbert R. Sterner, Lawrence W. Sterner and Robert W. Sterner, all of Oil City RD 1; two daughters, Janet WIBLE of Franklin and Mrs. Anthony "Butch" (Lois) HOVIS of Oil City RD 1; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She also is survived by one brother, Clyde Leasure of Polk; one sister, LaRue Leasure of New Stanton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sterner was preceded in death by a son, David Sterner; and two brothers, Walter Leasure and Robert Leasure. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Feehan, pastor of the Cherrytree Bible Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Cherrytree Cemetery. Merle L. Silvis, 83, of New Bethlehem, died Friday evening, Oct. 22, 1999, in the Brookville Hospital. Born Aug. 8, 1916, in South Bethlehem, Armstrong County, he was a son of Warren J. and Nettie BARLETT Silvis. Mr. Silvis founded Distributor Tire Sales Co. in New Bethlehem in 1939, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Bethlehem and was a social member of the New Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Co. Mr. Silvis was married Oct. 30, 1937, to the former Helen REITZ, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Naomi SHEEHAN and her husband, Jack, of Penn Hills, Ruth GINDER and her husband, David, of Hudson, Ohio, and Becky Silvis of New Bethlehem; two sons, Jerry Silvis and his wife, Deborah, of New Bethlehem and Mark Silvis of Warren, Pa.; and eight grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Silvis was preceded in death by a daughter, Leah MOCHLMAN, in 1986; one brother, Paul Silvis, in 1998; and a half brother, Fulmer Silvis, in 1962. Mary Belle Wood, 79, of Parker RD 1, died of natural causes at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, in Clarion Hospital. Born March 28, 1920, in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of Frank and Esma MURRAY BLYMILLER. In her early years, Mrs. Wood was employed by the former W.A. Moyer Level Works of Parker. Later she was a care nurse at Clarview Nursing & Rehabiliation Center at Sligo RD 1. Following retirement there, she continued as a constant volunteer at Clarview for many years. Mrs. Wood recently recieved the "Volunteer of the Year" award from the state of Pennsylvania for the countless hours donated at Clarview as well as being instrumental in establishing the John and Jane Doe Fund for residents without monies for personal care. She was a member of the St. Petersburg United Methodist Church. For more than 20 years, Mrs. Wood was chairperson of the concession stand for the annual picnic of St. Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Harrison (Kathy) BEST of Knox, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) RUPERT of Chicora and Mrs. Forrest (Bonnie) JORDAN of Parker RD 1; two sons, John "Jack" Wood and his wife, Nancy, of Emlenton RD 3 and David WADE and his wife, Liz, of Titusville, Fla.; and several grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Wade, and her husband, John Wood, who died Jan. 15, 1991. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker, and at the church one hour preceding the service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Park Hill Church of God with the Rev. Lonny Wolford, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Allegheny Cemetery near Parker. Fred A. Duncan, 67, of Templeton RD 2, Madison Township, Armstrong County, died at 5:23 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning. Born Dec. 27, 1931, in Widnoon, Armstrong County, he was a son of James and Gladys HETRICK Duncan. Mr. Duncan was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Amy. He worked for Pullman Standard Co. of Butler, retiring there. He then worked as a truck driver. Mr. Duncan was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons, Lodge No. 522, of New Bethlehem. He also was a member of the Rimersburg VFW, the American Legion in East Brady and the Marienville Sportsman Club. Mr. Duncan was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time playing with his grandchildren and playing the guitar and singing. He was a Protestant. Mr. Duncan was married July 16, 1955, to Maxine MOHNEY, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Rex Duncan of Kittanning; a daughter, Mrs. Vern (Polly) JOHNS of Kittanning; and four grandchildren, Justin Duncan, Kaylee Johns, Elijah Johns and Ivy Johns. He also is survived by three sisters, Louave HOPPER of Templeton, June YARNELL of Franklin and Willovene STEINER of Lebanon, Ohio; and one brother, Bill Duncan of Worthington.
