Lois R. Fisher, 74, of Shippenville RD 1, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, in the Clarion Hospital. Born April 6, 1925, in Emlenton, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Kathryn KUNSELMAN RITCHEY. She owned and operated Lois's Beauty Shop in Emlenton for 28 years. She had many hobbies, including needlepoint, making dollhouses, gardening and flowers and crossword puzzles. She was married to Paul LEVY, who preceded her in death in 1965. In 1972, she married Herman W. Fisher, who survives. She also is survived by four children, Judy KAHL of Shippenville, Larry Fisher and Terry CHURCH of Keystone, W. Va., and Tammy Fisher of Greensboro, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and Martin BERKERY of Shippenville, Scott ANTHONY of Knox, Todd and Tammy Anthony of Oil City, Tom Kahl of Shippenville, Jeff and Steff CHURCH and Jason and Denise Church of Keystone, W. Va.; three great grandchildren, Bubba Church, Alyssa Church and Brandon POWELL, all of Keystone, W.Va.; two brothers, John Ritchey of Emlenton and Virgil Kunselman of Oil City; a sister, Marion BOYER of Cranberry; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean Kunselman and Theodore Kunselman. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the William N. Rupert Mortuary in Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Jack, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Knox, officiating. Interment will be in the Emlenton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Clarion/Forest Visiting Nurses Association in Knox.

Nellie E. Whann, 96, formerly of Mercer Road, Franklin RD 1, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at northwest Medical Center in Franklin. Mrs. Whann had resided at Sugar Creek Station for the past year. Born July 10, 1903, in Franklin, she was a daughter of Sullivan and Lillian MAFFIN PALM. She spent her early life in Oil City and was a 1921 graduate of Oil City High School. Mrs. Whann was employed as a secretary at Joy Manufacturing from 1943 to 1959. Before moving to Franklin, she and her husband lived in Reno for several years and was a member of Reno United Methodist Church, She attended Nicklin United Methodist Church after moving to Franklin. On June 18, 1927, she married Harry E. Whann, who preceded her in death Aug. 4, 1980. Surviving are five grandchildren, Mrs. Loren (Kathy) MILLER of Reno, Robert A. VOGAN and his wife, Nancy, of Franklin, Timothy M. HART and his wife, Tracy, of Franklin, Harry W. Hart and his wife, Shari, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Rege S. Vogan, also of Colorado Springs; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Lois) HART; two brothers, one sister, one half-brother, one half-sister and one great-granddaughter. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Huff Chapel in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Melvin R. Hedegor, pastor of Nicklin United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Reno Cemetery. Catherine H. Zacherl, 93, of South Fifth Avenue, Clarion, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at her home. Born June 27, 1906, in Lucinda, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (LANDER) GRIEBEL. She was a long-time resident of Clarion. Mrs. Zacherl was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. She is survived by a son, Edward and his wife Lois Zacherl of Milan, Ohio; five daughters, Dolores and her husband Paul SNYDER of Erie, Virginia and her husband Richard JUDY of Lucinda, Patricia GATES of North East, Mary Grace and her husband Arnold ZIROLI of Medina, Ohio and Bernadette MAGURA of Sun Valley, Calif.; a sister, Mary SCALISE of Clarendon; 18 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aloysius M. Zacherl; a daughter, Rita; a son, Robert; and a granddaughter, Jane JUDY. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion with the Rev. Frank Pryzpierski celebrating. Glenn L. Schreffler, 88, of the Presbyterian Home in Oil City, formerly of 23 E. Bissell Ave., died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 1999, at Northwest Medical Center in Franklin. Born Jan 1, 1911, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Sylvanus W. Schreffler and Jessie (KROH) Schreffler. He attended the Oil City Schools, and lived in the Oil City area all his life. Mr. Schreffler was a retired machinist from Oilwell Supply. On April 26, 1942, he married Anna L. PERRY. She preceded him in death Feb. 5, 1992. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City. Mr. Schreffler also belonged to the F&AM Lodge No. 363, the Lodge of Perfection, the New Castle Consistory and Acacia Grotto. He was also a member of the Oil City Moose and Eagles clubs. He is survived by three sons, Perry W. Schreffler, Scott W. Schreffler and Gary L. Schreffler, all of Oil City; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Gloria) HARDING of Sebring, Fla.; a brother, Cletis Schreffler of Grove City; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Leona WEAVER and Elsie WEAVER; and a brother, Wade E. Schreffler. The Hutchinson Funeral Home in Oil City is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in the Brandon Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Presbyterian Home in Oil City.

George T. Cross, 81, of 541 N. 13th in Franklin, died at 11:12 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, in the Northwest Medical Center in Franklin. Born Nov. 6, 1917, in Pearl, Irwin Township, he was a son of the late Herbert J. and Mary ELSBURY Cross. He graduated from Rocky Grove High School. Mr. Cross served with the United State Army during World War II in the European Theater of operation. He was employed at the General Manifold Company, the Arms Franklin and Joy Mining Machinery prior to going to work for the Derrick Publishing Co., where he worked as a machinist responsible for repairing the presses for many years. He then worked for Seneca Printing, from where he retired in 1982. Mr. Cross was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, the Friendship Circle Class of the church and was an usher at the church for a number of years. He was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of American for many years. He also was a member of the Izaak Walton Club, where he was well known for his skeet shooting. On July 23, 1938, he married the former Gladys M. SEBER, who survives. Mr. Cross is also survived by a son, James R. and his wife Lois Cross of Franklin; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Peggy) ATTS of Utica; four grandchildren, Jeffery and his wife Karen Cross of Indianapolis, Robert and his wife Heidi Cross of Franklin; Brian Atts of Utica and Mrs. Richard (Barbara) HOFFMAN of Carlton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Deborah Ann Atts; three brothers, Charles Cross, James Cross and John Cross; and three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Hanna) DeWOODY, Mrs. Lloyd (Edith) DAVIS and Mrs. Neil (Amanda) MELAT. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Huff Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. David A. Holste, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango Count, 308 Seneca St., Oil City, Pa., 16301.

Austie Vivian Lawrence, of Franklin, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 12, 1999, in Franklin. Born April 30, 1955, in Franklin, she was a daughter of Barbara Lawrence. Ms. Lawrence, known by her family as "Moochie", was a 1973 graduate of Franklin High School. Raised by her grandparents, Evelyn and Vivian Lawrence, she attended Boston University, Northeastern College, to pursue a nursing caree. In 1980, Ms. Lawrence had the first of five daughters, Bobbie, 19, who survives. She is now attending Temple University. Ms. Lawrence is also survived by her other daughters, Crystal, 17; Precious, 12; Brandis, 4; and Alexandra 2. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her mother, Barbara Lawrence; and brothers, sisters, ncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. A private service is scheduled for the immediate family at 7 p.m. today at the Erie Street Church of God. Friends will be received from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. The Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.
