Mary Lynn Moody, 44 of 220 N. Garden St., Marion N.C., formerly of Oil City, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, in Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. Born in Venango County, she was a daughter of the late Emmett and Mary Patricia BINES MORKIN. She was a 1972 graduate of Oil City High School and a graduate of Western Piedmont Community College in Morganton, N.C., where she attained the highest score of state boards for certified medical assistant (CMA). Mrs. Moody was a senior CMA for 10 years with Burke Primary Care in Morganton, N.C. She was a member of the North Carolina Association for Medical Assistants, Burke County Association of Medical Assistants, Medical Staff Services Advisory Council and Western Piedmont Community College Advisory Council for Medical Assistants. Mrs. Moody was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Marion, N.C. Surviving are her husband, Fred Moody; a stepson and his wife, Craig and Meleia Moody of Casar, N.C.; a daughter, Linda SMITH of Fairfield, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Patrick Smith, Stacy Moody, Brittany Moody and Tyler Moody. She also is survived by two brothers, Thomas Morkin and his Wife, Karla, of Hermitage and Michael Morkin of Franklin; a sister and her husband, Patricia and Randy BYERS of Oil City; five nieces, Holly Byers, Becky Byers and Christy Byers, all of Oil City, and Sarah Morkin and Elizabeth Morkin of Pittsburgh; and one nephew, Mark Morkin of Hermitage. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today in Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. John Tuller as the presider. Interment will follow in McDowell Memorial Park in Marion, N.C. The Kirksey Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Marion, N.C., is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Mary M. Harrison Yoder, 78, formerly of Walnut Bend, Oil City RD 2, died at 12:25 a.m Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin RD 3. Born March 28, 1921, in Oil City, he was a son of Elmer and Nancy JONES Yoder. He was a graduate of Cranberry High School. Mr. Yoder was an Army veteran stationed at Fort Dix, N.J., and in Nashville, Tenn. He also served in Germany from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He had lived in the Newtown area where he had worked as a deputy sheriff and resided most of his life in the Oil City area. Mr. Yoder was employed for many years as a turnkey at the Venango County Jail until his retirement. He first was married to Marie HESTON, who preceded him in death. He later married Dorothy SCHAFFER, who also is deceased. Surviving are a son, Harold Yoder of Newtown; a daughter, Nancy ESTINECH of Newtown; three stepsons, Richard Schaffer ot Tionesta and Art Schaffer and Don Schaffer, both of Newtown; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Richard Yoder of Willow Street, Pa. In addition to his parents and two wives, Mr. Yoder was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence KITELINGER, Edna FRY and Carrie WILSON; two brothers, Williard Yoder and Arthur Yoder; and three infant brothers and sisters. The Hutchinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. A committal service will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Newtown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a chaity of one's choice.

Alvin E. Garbacz, 73, of 11 Clarion St., died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin following an extended illness. Born Nov. 6, 1925, in Oil City, he was a son of Albert and Mary WARCHOL Garbacz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from March 6, 1951, to Feb. 19, 1953, during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Garbacz had worked at Foster Forbes Glass Plant in Rouseville and the State Store in Oil City, retiring in 1990. `He was a long standing member of the Assumption B.V.M. Church where he was a lector and attended daily Mass. He loved his ministry and lived it very seriously and ministered to the sick and shut-ins. Mr. Garbacz was the first in the Erie Catholic Diocese to be commissioned an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist April 11, 1973, by the late Bishop Alfred M. Watson. He made his Cursillo about 10 years ago. He was a tireless volunteer at many Assumption Church functions and took part in many of the improvements around the church and social hall until the last couple of years when ill health forced him to slow down. Mr. Garbacz was an avid bowler and enjoyed doing things for others. He was married in the Assumption Church Sept. 10, 1955, to Frances MAY, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters and their spouses, Mary Kay and Edward LAND of Chester, Va., and Patti A. and Kevin RYBAK of Beaver; six grandchildren, John L. BREENE III of Oil City, Daniel R. Breene of Chester, Va., and Sarah Rybank, Emily Rybak, Kathryn Rybak and Laura Rybak, all of Beaver; and one great-granddaughter, Hanna Nichelle Breene of Oil City. He also is survived by two brothers, Ret. Col. Joseph Garbacz of Arlington, Va., and Anthony Garbacz of Oil City; three sisters, Loretta TAUBLIEB of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Kay SKROBAT and Gladys NICOL, both of Oil City; and many niceces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Garbacz was preceded in death by two sisters, Sally KEATING and Helen PAYNE. The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no public viewing or visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Assumption Church with the Rev. William J. O;Brien, pastor, as the presider. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. It was his wish that memorials be made to the Assumption B.V.M. Church or to the missions to feed the hungry and less fortunate children of the world.

Paul Andrew Spudic Sr., 80, of Port Monmouth, N.J., formerly of Rimersburg, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, in Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, N.J. He had resided in Far Rockaway, N.Y., and Red Bank, N.J., prior to moving 14 years ago to Port Monmouth. Born May 5, 1919, in Rimersburg, he was a son of Joseph and Mary Ann BICANICH Spudic. Mr. Spudic was a graduate of Union High School in Rimersburg, attended Clarion State College and graduated from UCLA in Los Angeles, Calif. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corpss from 1940 to 1946 in the South Spcific. Mr. Spudic was employed as a claims clerk by Dan River Corp. of New York, N.Y., retiring there. He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Middletown, N.J., the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Vince Lombadi Council, Knights of Columbus Council of Leonardo, N.J., and the Knights of Columbus Maris Steela Council of Far Rockaway, N.Y. Mr. Spudic also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179 of Port Monmouth, N.J., the American Legion Post No. 0338 of Leonardo, N.J., and the Croatian Fraternal Union. He was married Sept. 1, 1947, to the former Alma MALONE, who died in 1990. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lee (Eileen) BEAUMONT of Middletown, N.J.; four sons, Paul A. Spudic Jr. of Middletown, N.J., Stephen Spudic and his wife, Cindy, of Ocean Township, N.J., Michael Spudic of Forest Hills, N.Y., and Joseph Spudic and his wife, Emma, of Port Monmouth, N.J.; and three grandchildren, Nicole and Ricky Beaumont of Middletown and Kenneth Spudic of Port Monmouth. He also is survived by four sisters, Ann YURKOVIC of Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Sligo RD 1, Mildren McNAUGHTON of Rimersburg, Rose SEIGWORTH of Knox, and Dorothy KATICH of Coraopolis. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Spudic was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary WIENCEK and an infant, Amanda Spudic; and three brothers, George Spudic and Frank Spudic and an infant, John Spudic. Mass of Christian Burail was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Middletown, N.J., with Father Keating, pastor, as the presider. Interment was in Holmdel Cemetery in Holmdel, N.J. The John F. Pfleeger Funeral Home in Middletown, N.J., was in charge of arrangements.

Foster R. Hughes, 86, of Franklin RR 2, died at 10:08 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born Nov. 14, 1912, in Cranberry he was a son of Ralph and Donna ROSENBERG Hughes. Mr. Hughes retied in 1977 as a maintenance worker for PennDOT. He was a Protestant. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Connie) CRAWFORD of Franklin; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Hughes of Seneca; three grandchildren, Raymond Crawford III of South Whitley, Ind., Mrs. Michael (Crystal) WHITTAKER of Marlton, Md., and Lori HOUCK of Seneca; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by a son, Edward E. Hughes; a brother, Wallace Hughes; and two sisters, Elizabeth KLINE and Mary Jane BURROWS. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Overmyer, pastor of the Victory Heights United Brethren in Christ Church, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Victory Heights United Brethen in Christ Church.

Clair H. "Ted" Amsler, 89, of Marble, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, in Clarion Hospital. Mr. Amsler, a lifelong resident of the Marble are, had been a resident for four months at Highland Oaks in Shippenville. He was self-employed in coal mining and trucking. Mr. Amsler was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus. He was a member of the Fryburg Sportsman Club, Wheels Stock Club and Lucky Twirlers Square Dance Club. Mr. Amsler was married Nov. 26, 1930, to Vivian MERRYMAN, who died Sept. 24, 1990. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Ronald and Pat Amsler and Donald and Pat Amsler, all of Marble; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Carm W. Amsler of Marble; a sister, Mrs. Vaughn (Wilda ) BEARY of Marble; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Amsler was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Jean Amsler; and a sister, Ethel V. HOFFMAN. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Faller Funeral Home, Fryburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Faith Lutheran Church, Venus, with the Rev. John Wood, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Venus Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Faith Lutheran Church.

Margaret M. Ziegler, 92, of Shippenville RD 1, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born April 9, 1907, in Lucinda, she was a daughter of George B. and Edith WILLS SCHILLINGER. Mrs. Ziegler was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Clarion County. She first was married to John MOTTER and later to Charles Ziegler, both deceased. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) SWARTZFAGER of Shippenville RD 1 and Mrs. James (Linda) O'NEIL of Kossuth; and six grandchildren, Gary Swartzfager, Richard KLINE II, Mikki STAYER, Vonda MILLER, Jesse Motter and Scott Motter. She also is survived by one sister, Edith JOLLY of Orwell, Ohio. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Mrs. Ziegler was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Motter; two grandchildren and six brothers. Private funeral services were held Sunday at the Faller Funeral Home in Fryburg. Dr. Richard Jones, pastor of the Faith Church of the Nazarene in Cranberry, officiated. Interment was in the Venue Cemetery.

Marion M. Vilberg, 79, of Leeper HC 1, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Jefferson Manor, Brookville. Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was a daughter of George and Ethel HERZER WISNER. Mrs. Vilberg was an administrative assistant and worked for the University of Wisconsin. She also was a self-employed shopkeeper. Mrs. Vilberg was married to John W. Vilberg, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, James E. Vilberg and William R. Vilberg, both of Miami, Fla., and Thomas R. Vilberg of Clarion; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Eileen BOLLHAGEN of Milwaukee, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents. The Goble Funeral Home of Clarion is in chage of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Maxine Sollinger, 79, of 210 Allegheny Ave., Reno, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 2, 1999, in St. Vincent Health Center, Erie. Born Oct. 6, 1919, at Fleming Hill, Forst County, she was a daughter of the late Maxwell Fleming and Edna S. GALMISH WEIKAL. Mrs. Sollinger was a 1938 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She had worked at The Fashion in Franklin. Mrs. Sollinger was a member of the Reno United Methodist Church. She was married June 8, 1943, to Carl D. Sollinger, who preceded her in death May 21, 1994. Mrs. Sollinger is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Cheryl) GUTMILLER of Franklin; and a grandson, William Duane Gutmiller of Erie. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Reno United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Vera Evelyn Vasbinder, 68, of Franklin RD 2, a registered nurse, died at 12:04 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin.

Sophia M. Bialo, 79, of 502 Pacific St., Franklin, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at her residence.
