Mildred J. "Berky" or "Mid" Beggs, 73, of Franklin RD 5, died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born May 28, 1926, in Greenville, she was a daughter of Carl F. and Ethel R. BEAN SNYDER. She moved with her family to Polk at an early age. Mrs. Begs was a 1944 graduate of Franklin High School. She had worked at Joy Manufacturing Co. prior to her marriage. On Jan. 15, 1949, she married Harry A. Beggs Jr. in the Fox Street Church of God in Rocky Grove. He survives. Mr. and Mrs. Beggs celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this past January. She enjoyed spending the winters at their home in Port Saint Lucie, Fla. Mrs. Beggs worked with her husband and his parents in their famiy business, Beggs Turkey Farm, during the 1950s. She was a member of the Galloway United Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four children and their spouses, Jeanne L. and Barry LIDSTONE of Calgary, Canada, Nancy S. and Howard ROBISON of Franklin, James C. and Carolyn Beggs of Curwensville and John H. Beggs and his wife, Deirdre, of Ellicott City, Md., nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a niece whom they raised, Mrs. James B. (PeggyL) MILLER of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Ella Mae Snyder of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beggs was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy BROWN; and two brothers, Lawrence Snyder and an infant, Charles Snyder. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Galloway United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Hampton, pastor, and the Rev. Gary L. Small, pastor of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Franklin, officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Catherine M. Reich, 68, of Marienville, Jenks Township, Forest County, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 25, 1930, in Clarington, she was a daughter of Cecil B. and Bessie DUNKLE CASSATT. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mrs. Reich was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Marienville VFW. Surviving are a daughter, Andrea ZUG of Clarington; a son, Lee WOLFGANG of Lincoln Park, Mich.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Roy T. (Lorraine) ROSSEY of Clarington and Charlotte L. SPRATT of Brookville; and a brother, Homer Cassatt of Westville, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin son, Randy. Visitation will be held at the time of services at the Clarington United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Allen Maihle officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Barnett Township, Forest County. Memorials may be made to the Clarington United Methodist Church or to the Activity Department of Snyder Memorial Home, Marienville. The McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, is in charge of arrangements.
