George E. Frawley, 54, of Island Lake, Ill., formerly of Oil City, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, in Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Ill. Born July 3, 1945, in Oil City, he was a son of James T. and Lucille McKINLEY Frawley. Mr. Frawley was raised and educated in Oil City and graduated in 1963 from Venango Christian High School. He graduated in 1967 from the University of Notre Dame and received on M.B.A. in 1974 from Cornell University. He resided in the Chicago area before moving in 1995 to McHenry County. Mr. Frawley applied his education in engineering and finance toward improving productivity in national industrial corporations. He directed operations at numberous major companyies, including Continental Can, Massey-Ferguson, Ingersoll Engineers, Holley Manufacturing, Case Manufacturing, Dohler-Jarvis and Klein Tools. Three years ago, he became a principal with M-F Construction Services in Island Lake. He served in the United States Navy as a navy aviator during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Naval Reserve in 1991, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. Mr. Frawley was a former Eagle Scout and later became a scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America. He was married in McHenry, Ill., June 3, 1999, to Nancy MURDOCK-McCUTCHEON, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Patrick Frawley of Ann Arbor, Mich., Peter Frawley of Fort Collins, Colo., and Paul Frawley of Kalamazoo, Mich. He also is survived by his mother, Mrs. William (Lucille) BENNING of Oil City; and a brother, Dick Frawley and his wife, Judith SKILLINGS, of Exton. He was preceded in death by his father, James Frawley. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday in St. Joseph Church with the Rev. John W. Swoger, pastor, as the presider. The family will receive friends in the church prior to the mass. Interment will be private. A memorial service will be held in Illinois at a late date. Lloyd R. Cooper, 71, of Cooperstown RD 1, died at 8:35 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at his residence following a short illness. Born June 19, 1928, in Plum Township, Venango County, he was a son of Darrell H. and Cleo DOANE Cooper. Mr. Cooper formerly worked for 20 years at Struthers-Wells Corp. and worked 18 years for Ernst Steel. He donated the land for Cooper Recreational Park in Chapmanville. Mr. Cooper served on the board of directors for Sunville Cemetery. He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting and fishing. Mr. Cooper was married in the Chapmanville Methodist Church parsonage Aug. 1, 1948, to the former Doris HOPKINS, who survives. They were married 51 years. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons and their wives, Raymond and Jane Cooper of Cooperstown, James and Trudy Cooper and William and Debra Cooper, all of Meadville; and five grandchildren. He also is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Gail (Ethna) BIDWELL of Bear Lake, Millie LAVERY of Mystic Park Road, Titusville, and Mrs. Warren (Jeannie) REYNOLDS of Oil City; a good family friend, David Wilson of Havelock, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a brother, Elwood Cooper. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Leo N. Herbert C. Hollingsworth, 84, of Oil City, died suddenly at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born April 15, 1915, in Oil City, he was a son of Cecil C. and Jessie W. BUCK Hollingsworth. He was a lifelong resident ofi Oil City, graduating in 1933 from Oil City High School. Mr. Hollingsworth served as a fireman first class (EM) in the Navy durig World War II and received the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He worked for 40 years as a cable splicer for General Telephone Co. ifn Oil City, retiring in 1978. Mr. Hollingsworth received the Bronze Morris Felton Lacroix Award from GTE in 1957 for meritorious service and signal achievement for saving the life of a man who had been involved in a traffic accident. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oil City and was a member of the church council. He was a member and past president of the IBEW Local No. 1636 and was a member of Gen-Tel Federal Credit Union where he held the office of treasurer for 25 years. Mr. Hollingsworth was married by the Rev. William Latta in the Oil City Presbyterian Church Sept. 16, 1939, to Kathryn NELSON, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Gary M. Hollingsworth and his wife, Chris, of Oil City and Thomas N. Hollingsworth of Cummings, Ga.; a daughter and her husband, Joan and Charles McLOUTH of Ebensburg; and four grandchildren, Lisa DAVIS and her husband, Mark, and Scott Hollingsworth, all of Atlanta, Ga., and Tess and Taylor Hollingsworth of Buena Vista, Colo. He also is survived by a brother, Kenneth A. Hollingsworth of Beaver. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hollingsworth was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Hollingsworth and Donald H. Hollingsworth. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Osenider Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Sharon Hilfiger, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Sara Elizabeth Sheesley Beals, 70, of Emlenton RD 1, Richland Township, Venango County, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born March 29, 1929, in Elk City, Clarion County, she was a daughter of Paul C. and Nellie V. WINGARD Sheesley. Mrs. Beals was a member of Old Zion United Methodist Church at Emlenton RD 1. She had served many years in various church offices. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Beals was married in Lickingville Aug. 31, 1951, to Robert E. Beals, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Charles E. Beals of St. Petersburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy E. and Charles WALLS of Emlenton RD 1; five grandchildren, Robin, Catherine and Caren Walls of Emlenton RD 1 and Charles R. and Emily S. Beals of St. Petersburg; a stepgranddaughter, Tina Walls MYERS of West Branch, Mich.; and a step-great-granddaughter. She also is survived by a brother, Glenn Sheesley of Emlenton RD 1; and two sisters, Mrs. Harry (Helen) HARNISH of Lamartine and Mrs. Robert (Bessie) AMSLER of Knox RD 2. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beals was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin Sheesley, Harold Sheesley and Calvin Sheesley. Margaret A. "Maggie" Ebbert, 59, of 487 Millcreek Road, Millcreek Township, Utica, mother of Gregory R. Ebbert and sister of Mrs. Edward (Fran) HECKMAN, both of Utica, died at 11:08 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Saegertown.
Ruth Kelly Johnson, 84, of Sara Reed Retirement Center, Erie, formerly of Franklin, Ridgway and St. Marys, a member of St. Patrick Church, Franklin, died Thursday morning, Sept. 16, 1999, in the retirement center following a brief illness.
