Gail L. Hockenberry, 51, of 55 Rockwood Ave., died at 7:11 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, in Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie. Born Dec. 4, 1947, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Sherril and Olive WISE SAGER. She was a 1965 graduate of Oil City High School and had lived in the Oil City area all her life. Mrs. Hockenberry was employed as a health care worker at Venango Manor and Polk Center for more than 20 years. She also worked as a cook at the Villa Italia for a number of years. She last was employed as a cafeteria worker at Oil City High School. She was a member of the Hasson Heights Community Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, Bible School teacher, Youth Fellowship assistant and Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the choir and Bible Study group. Mrs. Hockenberry was a charter member of the Oil Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines International. She was married June 18, 1977, to Richard W. Hockenberry, who died March 29, 1997. Surviving are two sons, Sherrill "Dewey" Hockenberry and his wife, Melissa, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bret E. Hockenberry, a student at Slippery Rock University; and one daughter, Amanda M. Hockenberry at home. She also is survived by two sisters, Sherry SWITZER of Oil City and Kathie GILBERT of Andover, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hockenberry was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra GILBERT. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday in the Hutchinson Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hasson Heights Community Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with the Rev. Richard C. Geiger, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Shaw Farm Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hasson Heights Community Presbyterian Church Handicap Ramp Fund.

William H. Marshall, 59, of Tylersburg, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, in Clarion Hospital. Born March 6, 1940, in Tylersburg, he was a son of William James and Martha E. PALMITER Marshall. He was a 1958 graduated of North Clarion Hight School. Mr. Marshall had worked for the A.P. Weaver Coal Co. He was a former Boy Scout leader. Surviving are a son, William Marshall of Hawkinsville, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Martha) CADLE Jr. of Rome, Ga., and Mrs. Robert (Patricia) SHEPHERD Jr. of Bonaire, Ga.; and a grandson, Dillon Shepherd. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Shirley Marshall of Cortland, Ohio; and three sisters and their husbands, William and Mary WOLBERT, Richard and Flossie DAVIS and Carl and Louise SLIKER, all of Tylersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Borland Funeral Home Inc., Leeper. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with James Marshall, brother of the deceased, presiding. Interment will follow in Hagan Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be mad to the Clarion Free Library in Clarion.

Wilma Edwina Underwood, 71, of Rimersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, in Danbury, Conn. Born July 26, 1928, in Edenboro, Texas, she was a daughter of Leonard Walter and Carry Estelle "Wiggly" RENNAKER. Mrs. Underwood was a Baptist. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and her dogs. Mrs. Underwood was married Feb. 24, 1948, to Archie Underwood, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Douglas Wayne Underwood of Danbury, Conn.; a daughter, Betty Elaine MONETTE of Clarion; and two grandsons, Leonard A. Monette of Harrisburg and Lukus James Monette, stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Laverne Underwood; one brother, Allen Walker Rennaker; one sister, Lenna MONTGOMERY; and one granddaughter, Heather Ann Underwood. Memorials may be made to the Clarion County Humane Society.

Lawrence L. Moyer, 90, of Cooperstown RD 1, formerly of Oakland, Calif., former employee of Atlantic Refinery in Franklin, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, in Titusville Area Hospital.

Evelyn Marie "Trink" Widel, 74, of 126 Sharp Road, Sandy Lake, Lake Township, Mercer County, died at 7:25 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at her home following a short illness, surrounded by her family. JOSEPH C. BOWSER Joseph C. Bowser, 77, of Riverview, Fla., formerly of Parker, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, in Abors nursing home in Brandon, Fla. Born Nov. 26, 1921, in Dutch Hill, he was a son of Clyde and Grace COWIE Bowser. Mr. Bowser was a 1942 graduate of Parker High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Bowser worked as a sales representative for Metropolitan Life in Butler. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seffner, Fla. Mr. Bowser also was a member of the VFW in Florida. He was married June 21, 1945, to Marilyn "Lynn" MORTIMER of Rimersburg, She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marty (Karen) ZDUNISH of Seattle, Wash.; a son, Kerby Bowser of Butler; and seven grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, Genny OVERHEIM of Foxburg; 11 nieces; and four nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowser was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy SHIREY; four sisters, Bea HORMER, Florence CLARK, Leona FAIR and Edna RUPERT; and one brother, Andrew Bowser. A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 3, in the First United Methodist Church in Seffner, Fla.

SARVER -- J.A. Gust Fiscus, 89, formerly of Sarver, a Crates native, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 1999, at Concordia Lutheran Home in Jefferson Township, where he had been a resident since January 1996.

CORSICA -- Jack D. Hall, 61, of Corsica, a Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, Bureau of Sales and Use Tax auditor, died Friday, September 3, 1999, at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

 Frances S. O'Brien Long, 86, of Tidioute, died on complications of Alzheimer's disease, Friday, August 20, 1999, at Kane Regional Center in McKeesport. Born September 23, 1912, in Clarion she was one of 10 children born to William and Wanda FINKBEINER O'Brien of Clarion. The family home was along Main Street, across from the post office. During the depression, the house was moved to the back of the property to make room for a Sunoco station. She was married to John W. Long of Pittsburgh. They both worked there until retirement, when they moved to Tidioute. Surviving are a daughter Barbara L. NELSON of Chula Vista, Calif.; three granddaughters, Jennifer McCABE of Los Altos Hills, Calif., Allison BARHAM of Riverside, Calif., and Monica ASKARI of San Diego, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren. No local services are planned. Interment of her remains was in the O'Brien Family plot in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Clarion.
