Richard E. Beach, 76, of Franklin Star Route, died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, in Sugar Creek Station. Born Oct. 31, 1922, in Franklin, he was a son of Leroy and Maude DeLONG Beach. Mr. Beach was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He had been employed by Joy Manufacturing Co., for more than 28 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Beach was a memer of Grace United Methodist Church of Franklin, The Frankin Elks, Eagles, Moose, Rainbow Beagle Club, American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, bowling and golfing. Following his retirement, Mr. Beach volunteered many hous at the West Unit of Northwest Medical Center and also with the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County. He was married Sept. 3, 1947, to the former Betty MITCHELL, who died Feb. 28, 1987. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara KEAS of Harmonsburg; a son and his wife, Ralph E. and Velina BRADISH Beach of Concinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Keas and Benjamin Keas of Meadville, Ryan Beach and Nicholas Beach of Virginia and Sean Bradish and Becky Bradish of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Chester Beach of Frankin; and two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Opal) NEIDICH of Rocky Grove and Mrs. Louis (Betty) SHINKLE of Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Beach was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville Beach and Russell Beach; and a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Lola) SUTHERLAND. Robert Richard Marshall, 62, of Pine Terrace Park, Shippenville RD 3, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, in Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Sligo RD 1. Born Aug. 11, 1937, in Clarion, he was a son of Richard and Betty CONLEY Marshall. Mr. Marshall was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion. Surviving are his mother, Betty Marshall of Shippenville RD 3; a brother and his wife, Ronald and Judy Marshall of Clarion; four nephews, Jay Marshall, Joe Marshall, John Marshall and his wife, Dianne, and Jeff Marshall and his wife, Jane; three great-nephews; and one great-niece. Also surviving are his uncles and aunts, Dick and Jane KROH of Shippenville RD 3 and William and Winifred Marshall of Clarion. Dr. Thomas Varn Polatty, 75, of Lucinda RD 1, Knox Township, died Saturday evening, Aug. 28, 1999, at his residence. Born Jan. 23, 1924, in Norfolk, Va., he was a son of David Pierce and Kathryn Ruth FLAHERTY Polatty. Dr. Polatty was a graduate of Virginia Tech University, Thiel College and Des Moines College of Osteopathy Medicine and Surgery. He was in private practice in the Clarion area from 1955 to 1992 and also was head of the Department of Anesthesiology at Clarion Hospital for 20 years. Dr. Polatty was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific. He was a private pilot and was a board member of the Clarion Airpot Authority. Dr. Polatty was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion, the Clarion VFW and PEACE. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Dr. Polatty was married May 18, 1946, to Veronica SELKER, who survives. Also surviving are six sons, A. Bernard Polatty of Monrovia, Md., Thomas R. Polatty of Pittsburgh, Stephen P. Polatty of Clarion, Mark A. Polatty of Furlong, Gregory J. Polatty of Strattanville and David A. Polatty of Shippenville; five daughters, Susan E. GOURLEY of Spring, Texas, Lynn M. DUDLEY of Strattanville, Jeanne M. SHOTTON of Mesa, Ariz., Elaine M. Polatty of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Karen A. McMILLEN of Limestone; and 12 grandchildren. Kathy B. Runyan Leopold, 49, of Emlenton RD 1, died of natural causes early Friday morning, Aug. 27, 1999, in Cranberry, Venango County. She was born Dec. 14, 1949, a daughter of Archie and Betty PENNINGTON HOLLIDAY. She attended Allegheny-Clarion Valley School at Foxburg. Surviving are her parents of Parker RD 1, a son, Jim Runyan of Shippenville; three daughters, Kim HARRISON of Parker, Shelley Runyan of Lucinda and Wendy FROSS of Emlenton RD 1; and nine grandchildren. She also is survived by four brothers, Archie Holliday Jr. of Parker, Bill Holliday of Knox, Jeff Holliday of Tennessee and Tim Holliday of Grove City; three sisters, Pat KING of Tennessee, Vickie WEIGLE of Parker RD 1 and Kay PEDEN of Wyoming; and a number of nieces and nephews. John F. "Bud" Marron, 83, of Parker, died Saturday morning, Aug. 28, 1999, in Chicora Medical Center, Chicora, after an extended illness. Born June 16, 1916, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Francis A. and Amelia RUSHE Marron. He was a graduate of the former Parker High School and was a member of the first basketball team there. He attended Allegheny College, Meadville, where he played football. He also was a graduate of Butler Business School. Mr. Marron was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy as a chief yeoman. His main duty station was at Pearl Harbor where he served in the office of Rear Admiral Nimitz at CINCPAC. He began his career with Central Electric Co-Operative at Parkers where he remained for 42 years, retiring in 1981. His last position there was office manager of the co-op. Mr. Marron was a devout Roman Catholic and a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church at Parker. In his years of membership, he served on the Parish Council, was a member of the Holy Name Society and directed the church choir. He was an accomplished musician and played various instruments with the former area band known as The Star Dusters. Mr. Marron was an avid sports fan of the Pirates and Steelers and most importantly, any sports involving Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District. He played baseball for many amateur teams in the Parker area. He also was one of the founders of the Parker Little League in 1959 and served as its treasurer for more than 20 years. Mr. Marron was a life member of the Roy Calvin McGinnis VFS Post No. 7073 at Parkers. He was named Man of the Year in 1997 by the Parker City Volumteer Fire Department, of which he was a supporter. Mr. Marron served many years as a member of the Parker City Council, was city clerk and also was an auditor of the city for a period of time. He served many years on the Parker City Sewer Authority from its inception. Mr. Marron was one of the founders and a charter member of the Cleafield Recreation Association, which opened in 1962. Surviving are his wife, Betty O;DONNELL Marron, whom he married Jan. 29, 1944, in St. James Cathedral, Seattle, Wash. He also in survived by on daughter, Mrs. Robert (Trish) SHANAFELT of Pittsburgh; four sons and their wives, James and Ann Marron of Parker, Jerry and Lynn Marron and Leo and Susan Marron, all of Foxburg, and John and Barb Marron of Johnstown; eight grandchildren, Lori SHERMAN, Emily, Leah and Megan Marron, and Michael, Patrick, Christopher and Ted Marron; two stepgrandchildren, Kelli and Robin Shanafelt of Pittsburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews. Ralph E. Daugherty, 71, of Franklin RD 2, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born May 5, 1928, in Oil City, he was a son of Patrick Henry and Margaret YEAGER Daugherty. Mr. Daugherty retired as a foreman from National Fuel Gas after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Franklin. Mr. Daugherty also was a member of the Cranberry Lions Club. He enjoyed traveling and his family. Mr. Daugherty was married Sept. 21, 1949, to Pauline F. TOCK, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Robert E. Daugherty and his wife, Theresa, of Seneca and Mrs. Ira (Barbara A.) VanEPPS of Pleasantville; and five grandchildren, Ashley Renee VanEpps and Katie Ann VanEpps, both of Pleasantville, and Saxon Connor Daugherty, Chandler Robert Daugherty and Cameron Scott Daugherty, all of Seneca. He also is survived by three sisters, Daisy Daugherty of Oil City, Evelyn BRITTON of Gerry, N.Y., and Mrs. Robert (Lillian) WARD of Cranberry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Daugherty was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Daugherty; and four sisters, Ruth WARD, Ellen FARREN, Mildred LOCKHART and Ethel FORSEL. Sherlee A. McGuckin, 70, of Franklin RD !, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born Jan. 29, 1929, in Sharon, she was a daughter of William P. and Anna C. GASSNER McGuckin. Miss McGuckin worked at Butler Wick in Franklin. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, Franklin. Miss McGuckin enjoyed her dog, gardening and crossword puzzles. Surviving are a son, Michael D. McGuckin of Franklin; a grandchild, Christopher McGuckin of Farrell; a brother, William P. McGuckin Jr. and his wife, Marilyn, of Uniontown, Ohio; a sister, Patricia McGuckin of Franklin; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kenneth M. Bish, 66, of Limestone, formerly of Sandy Hollow, Rimersburg RD 2, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, in Clarion Hospital shortly after his admission. Born May 26, 1933, in Truittsburg, he was a son of Calvin J. and Lida Mae NEISWONGER Bish. Mr. Bish had been employed at the brickyard in Climax and had worked for a number of years at Redbank Mills in New Bethlehem. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Bish was married in Clarion Nov. 2, 1958, to the former Agnes Pauline RENNINGER, who died Feb. 6, 1993. Surviving are a son and his wife, Kenneth Eugene and Wanda Bish of Shelocta; a daughter, Julie Lynn Bish of Sandy Hollow, Rimersburg RD 2; and two grandsons, Kenneth Harold Bish and Kyle Eugene Bish, both of Shelocta; his companion, Judy Young of Limestone; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bish was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Bish in 1975 and James Bish in 1991; and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Bish in 1986 and Mrs. Betty HARNISH in 1988. Ruth Stiller Lee, 85, a former resident of 109 Orchard St., Oil City, and formerly of 2533 E. Gore Road, Erie, the home of her daughter, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, in St. Mary's Home, Erie, where she resided. Born April 4, 1914, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Joseph M. and Helena BROWSKY. Mrs. Lee had been a bookkeeper for 25 years at Weaver Buick-Pontiac Dealership in Oil City, retiring in 1979. She was a former member of the St. Stephen Church in Oil City. Mrs. Lee was married to W. Arthur Lee, who died in 1963. Surviving are a daughter, Joyce MALESKI and her husband, John Maleski Jr. of Erie; a son, Thomas A. Lee of Jacksonville, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Christina Maleski of Kissimmee, Fla., and Jennifer Maleski and Andrew Maleski, both of Erie. She also is survived by a sister, Helen KARG of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by three brothers, her twin, Richard STILLER, and Joseph E. Stiller and Frederick V. Stiller.
