William J. Rehberg, 71, of 625 Holyday Run Road, Oil City RD 1, died at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at the Transitional Care Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Oil City following a short illness. Born May 25, 1928, he was a son of William Rehberg and Laura ZAWISLAK Rehberg SORBER. He attended Oil City schools. On Dec. 38, 1953, he was married to Regina SCHIFFER in St. Stephen Church by the Rev. Louis J. Kelly. Mrs. Rehberg survives. Mr. Rehberg was a veteran of the Koren War, serving as a tech sergeant in the Army. After the war, he was employed by the Sordoni Construction Co. as a lineman. He then worked for the Pennsylvania Electric Co. (now known as GPU) in 1954 as a journeyman lineman in Oil City. Mr. Rehberg then added the hot stick designation in 1959. He became chief lineman hot stick in 1970 and district foreman later that year. In 1975, Mr. Rehberg became group supervisor-line and then general supervisor-line in 1982. He retired in Aprl 1991 after 37 years of service. Mr. Rehberg was a life member of the Oil City Knights of Columbus #385 and was a former member of the Franklin Club. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter and her husband, Gina Leigh and Joseph ZAGERMAN of Pottstown; a son and his wife, Philip J. and Nancy Rehberg of Lower Burrell; a grandson, Eric John Rehberg of Lower Burrell; a granddaughter, Renee E. Rehberg of Lower Burrell; a brother-in-law, Ferd SCHIFFER of Oil City RD 1; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis DZIEKCIASZ of Oil City RD 1. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laurie Jo Rehberg; and an aunt, Mrs. Leo (Mary) GESING. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Reinsel Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen Church with the Very Rev. Jeffrey J. Noble, V.F. and the Rev. Edward Higgins, a retired priest from Lower Burrell and uncle of Nancy Rehberg, officiating. Interment will follow in the mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery. James Francis Vosburg Sr., 90, of Paint Township, Shippenville RD 2, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Beverly Health Care in Clarion. Born Sept. 10, 1908, in Duquesne, he was a son of the Adolph and Louise CLUP Vosburg. He was married Feb. 16, 1934, to Katherine WAGNER, who survives. He worked for Bracken Construction as a grader operator. He retied from PennDOT in 1970. Mr. Vosburg was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 538 and the 66 Operating Engineers, both of Kittanning. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and followed local dirt track racing. In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by one son, James F. Vosburg Jr. of Shippenville RD 3; one stepson, Jack McCLAINE of Shippenville RD 3; three grandsons, Randy, Vosburg, Richard Vosburg and Edward Vosburg Sr., all of Shippenvile RD 3; one granddaughter, Kathy Vosburg of Shippenville RD 2; two step-grandsons, Bruce McClaine of Shippenville RD 3 and Kevin McClaine of Clarion; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Adolph, Joseph, John and Fred Vosburg; and four sisters, Marie WHITE, Helen PRIMPZIC, Margaret PFAFF and Anna SWEET. Mr. Vosburg was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Frank Przepierski, pastor of Immaculate Conception, officiating. Interment will follow in the Clarion Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Clarion-Forest Visiting Nurses Association in Knox.

Esther E. Weaver, 70, of Fryburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, in Allegheny General Hospital, where she had been taken by emergency medical helicopter Saturday following a brain aneurysm. Born Sept. 24, 1928, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Myrtle (Peggy) REX Smith and John P. SMITH. On Aug. 25, 1948, she married Earl L. Weaver, and he survives. Mrs. Weaver graduated from high school in Coffeyville, Kan., after attending school in Shippenville and Oil City. She had been employed at Armstrong-Collier department store in Oil City. Mrs. Weaver was a resident of Fryburg for 50 years. She was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg and the Roasary Society of the church. In addition to her husband she is survived by four sons, Jeffrey Weaver and his wife, Mary, of Tionesta RD 1, Jody Weaver and his wife, Rebecca, of Fryburg RR 1, Kelly Weaver and his wife, Julie, of Tionesta RD 1, and Earl L. Weaver II of Fryburg; and one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Earlene) HETZEL of Rochester, N.Y. Also surviving are her mother, Peggy Smith of OilCity; one sister, Mrs. Richard (Vickie) HARRY of Tionesta RD 1; and seven granddaughters and two grandsons, Sheila, Brigette, Tierney, Laurie, Lindsie, Tyler and Brett Weaver and Kayla and Kyndal Hetzel. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Smith, on April 2, 1999; and a granddaughter, Lisa Elizabeth Weaver on May 24, 1978. There will be no viewing or visitation. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael Church in Fryburg with the Rev. William Driscoll officiating. Interment will be in St.Michael Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department or to the Msgr. Theobald Fund of the church.

Blanche M. McCullough, 90, of Akeley, Russell RD 2, formerly of Clarion County, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, in her home. Born Dec. 30, 1908 in Porter Township, Clarion County, she was a daughter of Homer and Maude MILLIGAN GATHERS. She resided in Warren County for the past 44 years. Mrs. McCullough was affiliated with the Cable Hollow Church. She was married to James Clair McCullough, who preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1995. Mrs. McCullough is survived by four children, Mrs. Ambrose (Betty) SCHLIPF of Meadville, Mrs. Preston (Marjorie) CATHCART of Akeley, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) HUDSON of Marion, Ind., and Guy McCullough of Middletown, Md.; a brother,Herman Gathers of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Florence) SLAUGENHAUPT of Red Bluff, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two infant sons; two brothers; and a sister. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home in Warren. A funeral and committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Orville Wolff, pastor of Cable Hollow Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Run Cemetery in Clarion County. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cable Hollow Church.

Minnie I. Rankin, 99, of Rimersburg RD 1, died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo RR 1, where she resided since April, 1997. Born May 5, 1900, in Fisher, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Sarah MYERS WALTER. She was a charter member of the Wildcat Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Reimersburg RD 1. She was married Nov. 27, 1919, in Kittanning to James Alcanna 'Bud' Rankin, who preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1960. Mrs. Rankin is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Rev. Edgar (Fredella) MOORE of Rimersburg, Mildred TROUTMAN of Rimersburg RD 1, Mrs. Charles (Donna) SWARTZ of Sharon and Mrs. James (Jane) MILLS of Punxsutawney; four sons, Marshall Rankin and his wife, Florence, of New Bethlehem RD 2, Frank Romaine Rankin and his wife, Betty, of Niceville, Fla., Gary Roy Rankin of Rimersburg RD 1 and Chester L. Rankin of Bellefonte; one brother, Chester Walter of Jamestown; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Helen Walter of Jamestown and Mrs. Velma Walter of Rimersburg; 39 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchilden; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Kathleen CENTORCELLI in September 1995; three sons, Urias Gene Rankin in May 1998, Daniel L. Ranklin in May 1996, and James Ranklin in December 1996; two grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Ralph, Frank, Raymond, Walter, Blair, David and Fred Walter; and four sisters, Freda Walter, Mildred LANDIS, Annie YATES and Geveviever HARRIGER. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Wildcat Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Bill Davis, the Rev. Jack Benninger and the Rev. Clarence Mayhle, all Wesleyan Methodist pastors, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.
