Mable M. Lynch, 100, formerly of Oil City, died unexpectedly at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, in the Allegheny Lutheran Home, Johnstown. Born June 17, 1899, in Falls Creek, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Annie M. MOOREN HEWITT. Mrs. Lynch worked with her husband for a number of years as a photographer's assistant in the Lynch Photography Studio. When she reired from there, she went to work for the Kathryn Genevieve Shop in Oil City as a seamstress. She was the oldest living member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Oil City, and she was a member of the Oil City Zonta Club. She was married in 1920 to Jeremiah M. Lynch, who preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1963. She lived in Oil City until 1988, when she moved to Johnstown. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Geraldine NUNEMAKER of Johnstown and Mrs. William (Margaret) OWENS of Kenosha, Wis.; a son and his wife, James and Thelma Lynch of Montgomery, Ala.; 22 grandchildren and several great-grantchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters; an infant daughter, Anna Lynch; and a granddaughter, Colleen M. Owens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Osenider Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Cole, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. Emily H. Hetrick, 92, formerly of Hoffman Avenue, died at 7:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Miss Hetrick was the last surviving member of her family. Born March 18, 1907, in DuBois, she was a daughter of the late Harry Belos and Emma PLYLER Hetrick. Miss Hetrick had been employed at Seep Brothers Hardware, Corrin Electric and Wallace Bookstore. She retired from the Wallace store. She was a member of the Oil City Christian Missionary Alliance Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Allen Hetrick, Charles Hetrick, and Marian Hetrick; and five sisters, Mary KOFFORD, Twila STAHL, Zora MORRISON, Nora DAWSON and Nellie Hetrick, who was her twin sister. Friends were received Sunday night at the Morrison Funeral Home. A funeral service was also held Sunday night at the funeral home with the Rev. John R. Friggle, associate pastor at Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was held in Ohl Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Mary Josephine Gahr, 73, of Henry's Bend HCR 2, formerly of 55 Pearl Ave., died at 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home, following an extended illness. She had been a resident at the home since July 23. Born April 10, 1926, in Leechburg, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Nellie ALTERTON ARMAGOST. On June 14, 1948, she married Leo J. Gahr Sr. in St. Catherine Catholic Church in DuBois. He survives. Mrs. Gahr was a member of St. Joseph Church. She and her husband operated Gahr's Southside Market for many years on East First Street. In addition to her husband, she is survived by nine children and their spouces; Joan and Ed FREER of Polk RD, Lawrence and Marie Gahr of Florida, Diana and Roger HERSMAN of Polk RD, Leo J. and Vicki Gahr Jr. of Dempseytown RD, Francis and Janeen Gahr of Utica, Michael and Betsy Gahr of Sandycreek, Christopher and Maggie Gahr of California, Edward Gahr of Indonesia, and James and Stacy Gahr of Oil City. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary KOSTELLANSKY of Vandergrift, Cathy MORRELL of Leeachburg, and Velma SHALLEY of Edensburg; 23 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Armagost, and a sister, Dorothy KLINGENSMITH. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Reinsel Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Church. The Rev. John W. Swoger, pastor, will be celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family suggest memorial contributions to St. Joseph Church development fund.

E. Irene Stewart, 73, of 406 Lanewood Drive, New Castle, a Clarion native, died at 9:47 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, at her home. Born Sept. 16, 1925, in Clarion, she was a daughter of the late Amos W. and Golda BIGLEY REYNOLDS. On Dec. 21, 1948, she married Claude R. Stewart, who survives. She was employed as a school secretary of Neshannock Hight School. Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church of New Castle, and she was a founder of the New Castle chapter of the Parkinson Support Group. Other memberships included Countryside Home and Garden Club and Jameson Hospital Junior Guild. An avid quilter, Mrs. Stewart enjoyed being active with crafts. She was well known for her photography and needlework. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her stepmother, Ethel COOK Reynolds of Brookville; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Kathy) MUDER of Decatur, Ga., and Mrs. David (Barbara) RUTTER of Palmyra; and two sons, David A. Stewart of Grand Junction, Colo., and Mark W. Stewart of Bellaire, Md. Also surviving are three sisters, Eleanor CLARK of Oil City, Virginia McCALL of Clarion and Evelyn McENTIRE of Clarion; one brother Donald Reynolds of Dale City, Va.; and seven grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary CRICK. (correction in Aug. 24 Derrick: Among her survivors are a sister, Doris WILLIAMS of Clarion.) Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Visitation will also he held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2434 Wilmington Road, New Castle, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Andrew R Jillson, church pastor, will preside. Interment will be in New Rehobeth Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Strattanville. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Parkinson Disease Associaion, Northminster Presbyterian Church, Hospice of St. Francis, or the Parkinson Support Group, New Castle Chapter, c/o Peoples Bank of New Castle.
