Stephen Joseph Marchibroda, 83, of Dunedin, Fla., formerly of Franklin and Oil City, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at Rosalie Manor in Dunedin. Mr. Marchibroda moved in 1981 from Oil City to Dunedin. Born Jan. 6, 1916, in Franklin, he was a son of Joseph and Mary ROMANEK Marchibroda. Mr. Marchibroda was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed for 40 years as a meat cutter by A&P Tea Co. Mr. Marchibroda was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dunedin, Fla., and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Marchibroda was married for 60 years to Helen FLIS Marchibroda, who preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, Dan Marchibroda of Madison, Conn.; two daughters, Mary Beth MAUER of Dunedin, Fla., and Diana Marchibroda of Greenwood, Va.; seven grandchildren, Chris Mauer, Dominic Marchibroda, Daniel Marchibroda, Josef Marchibroda, Dan Marchibroda and his fiancee, Amy Smith, Anna Marchibroda and Amy Brown; and two great-grandsons, Griffin and Reilly Brown. He also is survived by two brothers, John Marchibroda of Franklin and Ted Marchibroda of Timonium, Md.; two sisters, Mary DOLECKI and Wladzia CONRAD, both of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret Althea Weiser Vandeuren, 92, formerly of Strattanville, died Tuesday, Aug 10, 1999, at Friendship Village, Dublin, Ohio, where she had been a resident. Mrs. Vandeuren was a resident of Erie from 1942 to 1997, when she moved to Dublin, Ohio Born Dec. 2, 1906, in Strattanville, she was a daughte of J.F. Curtis and Ada MILLER Weiser. She was a graduate of DuBois Business College. Mrs. Vandeuren was an executive secretary for General Electric, retiring in 1967 after 20 years of service. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Erie. Mrs. Vandeuren was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Colonists and the Society of Mayflower Descendants. She was an active member of the Westminster Garden Club, the Salvation Army Senior Center and the Erie Guild of Craftsmen. Mrs. Vandeuren was married Oct. 15, 1931, to Rene G. Vandeuren, who died Oct. 30, 1973. Surviving are two daughters, Jeannine RIMASSA of Columbus, Ohio, and Yvonne HISKEY of Harwich Port, Mass.; three grandchildren, David Hiskey of Ridgewood, N.J., Susan BAUER of Delaware, Ohio, and Karen Hiskey of Kirkland, Wash; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday in the Gobel Funeral Home of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Laura Gross officiating. Interment will follow in the Strattanville Cemetery.
Glenn C. "Dud" Shick, 81, of Oak Ridge, Redbank Township, Armstrong County, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, in Clarion Hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1917, in Oak Ridge, Amstrong County,where he resided his entire life. He was a son of Homer G. and Ethel P. REIGHARD Shick. Mr. Shick was a self-enployed truck driver, and in his later years he worked for PennDOT in Armstrong County, retiring from there. He attended Oak Ridge United Methodist Church. Mr. Shick was an avid golfer. He was married March 11, 1939, to Ruth J. Shick, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Glenn C. Shick Jr., and his wife Brenda, of Oak Ridge; three daughters and their husbands, Sally and Larry YOUNT of Mayport RD 1, Betty and and Dave NEESE of Corsica and Dottie and Bob BOWERSOX of New Bethlehem; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mr. Shick was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy MILLER; a brother, Gene Shick; and a sister, Neela HAUPT. Donald E. Garis, 78, of Parker, died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, in Butler Memorial Hospital. Born Jan 15, 1921, in Callensburg, he was a son of Earl Lee and Mary Frances Garis DAVIS. Mr. Garis was employed for many years by Glass Containers Corp. in Parker. He was a member of the Park Hill First Church of God at West Freedom. Mr. Garis enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was married in Callensburg Aug. 6, 1949, to Mary Louella RUMBARGER, who died Aug. 4, 1999. Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Janice and Larry KLINE of Bruin; and one grandson, Eli A. Kline of Bruin. He also is survived by two brothers, James L. Davis of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Paul E. Davis of Yuma, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Donald (Helen) LUCE of Gobles, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Garis was preceded in death by a brother, William THOMPSON, and a sister, Lucy Thompson. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Christopher M. Norris G. Davis, 76, of Pittsburgh, a former Franklin resident, brother of Robert C. Davis of Franklin, died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 11, 1999, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
