Keith W. Whitten, 63, of Horsecreek Road, Seneca, died at 10:51 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Mr. Whitten had lived in the Cranberry/Seneca area all his life. Born March 18, 1936, in Franklin, he was a son of Harry W. and Mary McKINNY Whitten. He was a graduate of Cranbery High School. Mr. Whitten was a professional photographer and was the owner of Whitten's Studio in Franklin. He enjoyed playing the organ and bird watching. Mr. Whitten was married Oct. 26, 1985, to the former June R. HECKATHORN, who survives in Seneca. Also surviving are four step-sons, William BROWN of Seneca, James Brown of Oil City, John Brown of Franklin and Shane Brown of Pittsburgh; and five grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Donna GREENLEE of Franklin and Doris VanWORMER of Cranberry; and two brothers, Ralph Whitten of Franklin and Richard Whitten of Seneca. Mr. Whitten was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. The Hutchinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today in the chapel at Brandon Cemetery, with interment following there. Pastor Larry Blauser will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Pauline L. Krug, 87, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly of Oil City, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at her residence. Mrs. Krug moved in 1995 to Hilton Head Island from Oil City. Born Sept. 24, 1911, in Ridgway, she was a daughter of Thomas and Bessie MUMFORD MOHNEY. She was married to Robert S. Krug, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Col. Samuel R. Krug, U.S. Army Retired, of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; a daughter, Polly K. HARSHBARGER of Hilton Head Island; two grandchildren, Barbara WEIDMAN of Cranberry, N.J., and Linda MARSHALL of Beaver; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Chelsea Weidman. She also is survived by a brother, Elmer Mohney of Oil City; and a sister, Fern SNYDER of Oil City. Private services were held in Hilton Head Island. Jay Martin Weaver, 82, of New Bethlehem, died Sunday morning, Aug 8, 1999, in Columbia, S.C., following an illness. Born July 23, 1917, in Midway, he was a son of Guy E. and Gertrude BERLIN Weaver. Mr. Weaver was a 1934 graduate of Ashland High School in Kossuth. He was a verteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1943 throught 1945. He was a staff sergeant serving in both the European and Asiatic Pacific theaters. Mr. Weaver worked for 19 years as a field clerk and leasing agent for Manufacturers Gas Co. In 1956, he became a Prudential Insurance agent, moving his family from Brookville to New Bethlehem. He retired in 1978 after 22 years of service with Producential. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem, the Hawthorn Lions Club and the American Legion. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 225 and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Weaver was married in the Hazen Methodist Church Sept. 20, 1940, to Lillian LINDEMUTH, who died Feb. 27, 1997. Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Winnie and the Rev. Dr. James ROCHE of Columbia, S.C.; a son and his wife, Wayne M. and Joni Weaver of Macon, Ga.; and three grandsons, Kevin A. Roche of Columbia, S.C., Jason M. and Justin C. Weaver of Macon, Ga. He also is survived by two brother, G. Edward Weaver of Pittsburgh and Merle G. Weaver of Dallas. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia FYE; and two brothers, Lester Weaver and Herbert Weaver. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Rupert Funeral Home, New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. James Roche, son-in-law of Mr. Weaver, and the Rev. Joseph Onder, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in New Bethlehem, officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Cemetery at Hazen.
George T. "Tink" Kriebel, 61, of Dutch Hill, Parker RD 1, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at his residence. Born May 20, 1938, in Dutch Hill, he was a son of Raymond and Edna CALLANDER Kriebel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Kriebel worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator and tended natural gas wells before retiring due to illness. He attended the Leasure Run Church at New Bethlehem RD 3. Mr. Kriebel enjoyed air shows, flea markets, hunting and fishing, playing the guitar and spending time with his grandchildren. He was married Aug. 15, 1998 to the former Blanche REED, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. David (Bonnie) RYAN of Parker; two sisters, Mrs. Theodore (Doris) BOOKER of St. Petersburg and Pat HARNISH of Parker; and a bother, Russell Kriebel of Parker. He also is survived by two step-sons and their wives, Stanley and Paula Reed of Emlenton and Brian and Megan Reed of Rimersburg; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Paul (Carie) EVERETT of Clarion; one granddaughter, April Ryan of Parker; and three stepgrandsons, Douglas and Devon Everett of Clarion and Sawyer Reed of Emlenton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Varner Funeral Home, Sligo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Bubenheim, 45, of 13 N. Foster Road, Jakson Center, formerly of 103 Hadley Road, Hempfield Township, Greenville, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, in the University Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. Born Dec. 7, 1953, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Norman and Mary BLIEL Bubenheim. He was a 1971 graduate of Hampton Hight School and a 1975 graduate of Slipper Rock University where he received a bachelor of science degree in business administration. Mr. Bubenheim had been employed for the past three years as a salesman at Grove City Chevrolet. He previously worked for two years in sales at A. Crivelli Chevrolet, Franklin. He was a member of the Greenville Elks Lodge No. 145 and Greenville Moose Lodge No. 276. Mr. Bubenheim enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was married July 23, 1994, to Laura HUNT, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Miranda Lauren Bubenheim and Natalie Lynn Bubenheim, both at home; his father and stepmother, Norman and Ann Bubenheim of Titusville; and three brothers, Norman Bubenheim of Las Vegas, Nev., Daniel Bubenheim of Bakerstown and Timothy Bubenheim of Phoenix, Ariz. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Loutzenhiser-Jordan Colonial Funeral Home, 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville. The Rev. Martin M. Richard H. Malick, 67, of Main Street, Hawthorn, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in Jefferson Manor, Brookville. Born July 13, 1932, in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, he was a son of Warren A. Malick Sr. and J. Rachel HAINE Malick. Mr. Malick worked as a bookkeeper. He was a member of the Oakland Church of God in Distant. Mr. Malick was an avid beekeeper. He was married Nov. 22, 1961 to Carolyn GEORGE, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gladys LeAnne Malick-BENSON of Macon, Ga., and Mrs. Judy HOPPER of Boardman, Ohio; and four grandchidren. He also is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jane HASSLER of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two brothers, Dr. Gerald P. Malick of Wyomissing and Warren A. Malick Jr. of Reading. Jean E. Beach Hatch, 81, of Walnut Bend and Kennerdell RD 1, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in the Titusville Area Hospital following a sudden illness. Born Feb 21, 1918, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Frank "Mickey" and Mary ZUBER EWING. Mrs. Hatch was a 1936 graduate of Oil City High School and a graduate of Robert Morris College. She worked as an executive secretary/bookkeeper for several Oil City businesses until ill health forced her into early retirement. Mrs. Hatch was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Venango County Humane Society and the AARP. She first was married June 26, 1940, to Willard W. Beach, who died Dec. 29, 1993. She then was married July 5, 1997, to Gerald F. Hatch, who survives at Kennerdell RD 1. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Georgia) SWARTZ of Oil City; two grandchildren, Mr. David (Elizabeth) MIDDLETON of Seneca and David Swartz of Oil City; two great-grandchildren, Corey and Megan Middleton of Seneca; and special friends, the Duane Manross family of Kennerdell RD 1. Mrs. Hatch was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Ewing, and a sister, Grace HENDERSON. Florence G. Fitzgerald, 89, of Knox, formerly of Cyclone, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at her residence. Born May 7, 1910, in Polk, she was a daughter of Harry and Gerta GORSUCH DIGHTON She was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, reading, flowers and her grandchildren. She was married Aug. 15, 1928, to Karl Fitzgerald, who died in 1968. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Twila and Wendell HEETER of Knox and Shirley and Jim EWING of Kane; eight grandchildren, Wendell Heeter Jr., Craig Heeter and Karlene KIMES, all of Knox, Lori MORAN of Franklin, Melissa SANDERS of Mount Jewett, Deb Ewing and Julie Ewing, both of Kane, and Valorie Ewing of Port Allegheny; and seven great-grandchildren. Ottilia L. Peters, 93, formerly of Patterson, N.J., mother of Dr. Leonard L. Peters of Franklin, died early Sunday morning, Aug. 8, 1999, in Grove Manor, Grove City.
