Thomas Lewis Whitling, 25, of Seneca, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, as a result of injuries suffered earlier Saturday night in a racing accident at Sportsman's Speedway, Knox. Born March 8, 1974, in Oil City, he was a son of Harold E. and Elaine KURZENBERGER Whitling. He was a graduate of Cranberry High School. Mrs. Whitling worked as a foreman on the second shift at Weyerhaeuser in Titusville. He enjoyed racing, woodworking and hunting. Surviving are his parents, Harold and Elaine Whitling of Seneca; one brother and his wife, Jeff and Vicky Whitling of Greenville; and two sisters and their husbands, Cathy and Jim CARNPROBST of Gibsonia and Susan and Chuck FRAWLEY of Rockland. He also is survived by two nieces, Kayla and Cassandra Frawley of Rockland; two nephews, Johnny and Jacob Carnprobst of Gibsonia; paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Whitling of Rockland; and maternal grandmother, Myrna Kurzenberger of Seneca. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfaher, Harold E. Whitling Sr.,; and maternal grandfather, fred Kurzenberger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Kosarek, pastor of the Rockland United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of one's choice.

Edith Marie Blankenship, 84, of Mercer, formerly of the New Bethlehem area, died Sunday morning, Aug. 8, 1999, in Woodland Place, Mercer. Born Dec. 30, 1914, in Vrginia, she was a daughter of Charlie and Martha LAMB. Mrs. Blankenship was a homemake and was of the Protestant faith. She first was married in 1934 to Albert ECKARD, who died Aug. 18, 1955. She then married Richard Blankenship, who died in 1987. Surviving are five sons, John Eckard of Hermitage, Bob Eckard of Sharon, Roy Eckard of Emlenton, Ralph Eckard of Tennessee and Albert Eckard of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter, Martha MALGRIM of Wilkes Barre; one stepdaughter, Virginia EVANS of Hawthorn; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Reuper Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. A private family service and burial will follow. Interment will be in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County.

Paul L. Huff, 85, formerly of Galloway, died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in The Caring Place, Franklin. Born Sept. 11, 1913, in Galloway, he was a son of William N. and Flora RITCHEY Huff. He was a graduate of Rocky Grove Hight School. For more than 25 years, Mr. Huff was employed as a welder and mechanic at C.P.T. He retired in 1976. Mr. Huff was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He also was a member of the Galloway United Methodist Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and A.A.R.P. Mr. Huff enjoyed hunting and golfing. He was married in Cumberland, Md., Sept 30, 1940, to the former Garnet McCALL, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Dennis A. and Susan Huff of Naples, Fla. and Scott L. and Pattie Huff of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Amanda, Nicholas, Gabriella, Mary Rose and Michael Huff, all of Austin, Texas. He also is survived by a brother, Frank Huff of Rocky Grove; a sister, Helen VAUGHN of Jamestown, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Huff was preceded in death by three brother, William Huff, Carl Huff and Glen Huff; and three sisters, Alvena GULNAC, Phoebe KUNKEL and Alice MITCHELL. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Rob Guy, chaplain at The Caring Place, Franklin, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Sheila K. Shaffer, 50, of 200 S. Eighth St., DuBois, Cleafield County, formerly of Jefferson County, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in DuBois Nursing Home. Born Aug. 6, 1949, in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, she was a daughter of Ray C. and Ida K. BODDORF Shaffer. Miss Shafer was of the Protestant faith. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Paul (Emogene W.) DOVENSPIKE of Punxsutawney RD 4; and one brother, Raymond L. Shaffer of Levittown. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Charles D. Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthrorn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Lamb, pastor of the Timblin United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Worthville Cemetery, Ringgold Township, Jefferson County.

Ada M. Kunselman, 91, of 8249 Pagan Road, Erie, former Franklin resident who operated the Sugarcree Floral Co. in Franklin with her late husband, Arden Ira Kunselman, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, in Forestview Silled Nursing Center, Erie.
