From Brian Rolfe
Reel c-4514 at the NAC contains a list of boys bound for Boston, SS
Norwegian Liverpool to Halifax (March 31 1891) and Boston. It is ship
no. 22 on the film. The list occupies the bottom half of the page,
and there is a big ruled'X' through all the names, with 'Boston' writ
large as the destination of the group.
There are 34 names on the list as follows:
ANDERSON, Walter A. 14 BISHOP, Edwin E. 16
BIRCH, Wm B. 16 BUCHER, Thos. B. 12

That there are pages missing from the manifest is readily apparent. Maybe
the immigration agent discarded the rest of the Boston passengers, (there
are Canada destined names occupying the upper half of this children's
page,) maybe the ship did not provide the rest of the manifest, maybe a
civil servant in Ottawa did so, these people appearing not to be going
into Canada. But this
part of a Barnardo Party numbering 134.
That they are Barnardo boys is established by 3 pieces of evidence
