He was taking a college course when war broke out and obtained a commision, went overseas as a lieutenant. After some time in England he reverted in rank in order to get to the front and went as a Private in another battalion. HARRY L., who had been to the front, was wounded. On his return to Canada he received quite an ovation and was presented a watch. ERNEST A. NEWPORT, enlisted in 87 Battalion, was at front, wounded at Ypres. Lost left eye and piece of nose taken away, lump on right side of neck. He receives $16/month pension for 1 year. The town where he lives gave him $150 upon his return. He is able to work, appeared quite hopeful. HAROLD HOSKINS died of wounds in France, was struck with a shell while going to pick up a wounded comrade. His brother PERCY has been in the trenches for a year. ALBERT ROYAL, wounded, suffered from shell shock, is in Military Hospital for the Insane at Cobourg, Ontario.
