ELDO H. CLAUSER, fellow of the American College of Surgeons, is a native of Indiana, and since 1916, except for the World war period, has practiced his profession at Muncie. Doctor Clauser was born in Carroll County, Indiana, March 27, 1890, son of Charles Edward and Sarah A. (Turner) Clauser. His grandfather, William S. Clauser, was born and reared in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, and came to Carroll County, Indiana, in early times. He was a farmer and stock raiser. He and his wife are buried in St. John's Cemetery in that county. Charles Edward Clauser was born and reared in Carroll County, and followed his father's occupation as a farmer and stock raiser. He was twice elected a member of the Legislature from Carroll County, was a member of the Masonic fraternity and the Lutheran Church. He was drowned in a flood near his home, June 10, 1909, and is buried in St. John's Cemetery. His wife, Sarah A. Turner, was born at Madison, Indiana, attended public school there, and resides at Rossville. She has always given much attention to church work. Her four children were: Guy D., a farmer at the old home place; Dr. Eldo H.; Courtland H., connected with the Pennsylvania Company, with home at Pittsburgh; and Mabel, Mrs. Harvey Carson, of Los Angeles, California.

EldoH. Clauser attended public schools in Carroll County, graduating from the Rossville High School in 1909. His advanced education was acquired in Indiana University, where he graduated with the A. B. degree in 1918 and took his M.D. degree in 1915. His intern experience and training were in the Indianapolis City Hospital and in 1916 he located at Muncie, opening an office, and has enjoyed growing distinction in general practice and increasingly so in the field of surgery. During the first five years at Muncie he was associated with Dr. George R. Andrews, an eminent surgeon, now retired. Doctor Clauser has his offices at 315 South Jefferson Street. During the World war he was commissioned a lieutenant in the Medical Reserve Corps, was sent to Camp Sheridan, Alabama, where he remained until November, 1918, and was then transferred to Camp Eustis, Virginia, being assigned duty in the Base Hospital at both places. He was honorably discharged in April, 1919.

For the past ten years he has held the rank of captain in the Medical Officers Reserve Corps. He also belongs to Muncie Post No. 19 of the American Legion. He is a past president of the Muncie Academy of Medicine, and his high attainments in surgery gained him election as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He belongs to the Indiana State and American Medical Associations. Doctor Clauser is affiliated with Muncie Lodge No. 433 A. F. and A. M., the Royal Arch Chapter and Council, and Muncie Commandery of the Knights Templar, the Scottish Rite bodies at Fort Wayne, and Mizpah Temple of the Mystic Shrine at Fort Wayne. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Delaware Country Club, is a Democrat and a member of St. John's Universalist Church.

He married at Pendleton, Indiana, in June, 1914, Miss Marjorie L. Lewis, who died February 28, 1921. The two children of this marriage are Jean and Leah, both attending public school at Muncie. On December 18, 1923, Doctor Clauser married at Noblesville, Indiana, Miss Cora Benson, of Westfield. She attended public schools in Kansas and is a graduate nurse of the Indiana University Hospital at Indianapolis, and practiced her profession until her marriage. She is a member of the Universalist Church, and the Association of American University Women. Doctor and Mrs. Clauser have two sons, Charles E., born October 24, 1925, and John B., born September 13, 1930.
