DEATH OF PIONEER RESIDENT

Mrs. Emily Hearns had lived in Midland over 40 years. Mrs. Emily Hearns died Friday morning July 25 at the home of her son Lewis Hearns in the fourth ward of this city of heart trouble, aged 72 years, six months and thirteen days, after about two weeks illness.
Emily Turney was born in Colbourne, Ontario Jan 12, 1842 was married to Henry Hearns at Brockport, N.Y. and came to Midland in 1873. Mr. Hearns died in 1880. Three children were born to Mr. & Mrs. Hearns, Murray Hearns and Mrs. William Harcourt of Detroit and Lewis Hearns of this city. Besides the children one brother Amos Turney of Homer survives. The funeral was held from the home of Lewis Hearns Sunday afternoon. Rev. Joshua Bacon officiating and the body laid to rest in the Midland Cemetery. Mr. & Mrs. Murray Hearns and Mrs. William Harcourt were here from Detroit for the funeral.

LEWIS H. HEARNS DIES

Lewis H. Hearns, 72, of 1004 Lincoln Street died at 2 p.m. Sunday at Midland Hospital where he had been a patient for two days. He had been in ill health for several months. Born July 29, 1879, in Midland County, Mr. Hearns had been a lifelong resident of this community. He had been employed for 35 years at the Dow Chemical Company as an operator in the aniline plant until his retirement in 1944. His wife, Hazel, died March 28, 1944, and a daughter, Mrs. Clara Booth of Midland died last month. Mr. Hearns was a charter member of the Midland Moose Lodge No. 1541 and was honorary past governor of the Moose Lodge. Surviving are a son, Harold Lewis Hearns of Midland; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Pangborn and Ruth McHenry, both of Midland; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Harcourt of Holly; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Roland Decker, pastor of the Free Press Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Midland cemetery. Friends may call at the Bradley Funeral Home. Members of the local Moose lodge will meet at the clubrooms at 7 p.m. Tuesday to go to the funeral home together to pay their last respects.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel M. Hearns, widow of Louis Hearns who died at her home, 1003 Tibbs Street, Tuesday morning, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 at the Bradley Funeral Home, with Rev. V. J. Anderson officiating. Mrs. Hearns was born Nov. 10, 1892, at Addison, New York but had lived most of her life in Midland. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orson Aldrich and had married Louis Hearns, Aug 18, 1909, in Midland. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clara Booth, Mrs. Grace Pangborn and Mrs. Ruth McHenry all of Midland; one son, Harold Hearns, of Midland; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Aldrich of Midland and Lynn living somewhere in the west; one sister, Mrs. Harry Hutchinson, also of Midland. Burial will be in the Midland cemetery.

Doris Mae Johnson, 75, of Beaverton, beloved mother and grandmother, was called home to the Promised Land Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006. Though she is dearly missed, the hearts of her family and friends rejoice that she is at peace and with God in Heaven. Their memories of her will sustain them until they meet again. Doris was born on Sept. 10, 1930, in Midland, daughter of the late Raymond and Clara (Hearns) Booth. She was married Feb. 21, 1948, in Midland to Cleo W. Johnson, he predeceased her
