Dougald McDougald Hearns of the Township
of Markham, Yeoman and formerly of the
Township of Haldimand, Maketh Oath and
saith that he is the person he describeth to
be in the within petition that he has not
heretofore received any land or order for
land from the Crown.
Sworn in open sessions before me this sixth day of April 1843- DMcDHearns

Jacob Dafoe of the Township of Markham in the
District of Blacksmith Maketh oath and saith that
he was present and saw Dougald McDougald Hearns
sign the within petition that he is the person he
therein describes himself to be that he has never
received any land or order for land from the
Crown to the best of this deponents knowledge and
belief.
Sworn in open sessions before me this sixth day of April 1843- Jacob Dafoe

George Gurnett Esquire, Clerk of this Peace
certify that Dougald McDougald Hearns
Personally appeared before this General
Quarter Sessions of this Peace of this said
District this day and is recognized by the
Magistrates to be the son of Gilbert Hearns
who retained his Loyalty during the late
war without suspicion of aiding or assisting the
Enemy and who has done his duty in defence of the
Province during the late War.

Dated at the Court House in Open Sessions
in the Said District sixth day of April in the
year of our Lord 1843-
